Cognitive functions of the MBTI:
Extroverted Sensing (Se) - Extraverted Sense uses the five senses as a foundation (taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing) to easily assimilate information in the physical world. Being highly observant, these people pick up on details that other people don't notice. They love excitement, spontaneity, new experiences and material goods. Living for today and adapting well to the environment, they have good reactions. For such a person, all five senses are important as channels of perception of the world. This helps him to assimilate information more effectively. Novelty and spontaneity are also important to this person, and in all spheres of life he is characterized by observation and good adaptive abilities. (ESTP, ESFP - Se dominant function. ISTP, ISFP - Se auxiliary function)
Introverted Sensing (Si) - Introverted Sense is understanding the world through past events and experiences. People who use this function thrive on routine, tradition, organization, and rules. They use certain schemes to get the job done according to a plan, in order, following through to completion. They are responsible, reliable, and careful. A person relies on his past experience. Predictability is important to him. In work, this is a very responsible person, but he is more suited to tasks that need to be carried out according to instructions. A person with this function is more of a doer than a creator. (ISTJ, ISFJ - Si dominant function. ESTJ, ESFJ - Si auxiliary function)
Extroverted Thinking (Te) - Extraverted Thinking is the outward communication of thoughts through logic, reason and analysis. Extraverted Thinking users are clear and concise, direct and indifferent to emotional appeals. They are often strong speakers and writers who have thoughtful, well-developed arguments and theories. Extroverted Thinking likes to convince people of their thoughts and bring new ideas to life. They are often quite goal-oriented. Such a person relies on logic, rational thinking. In speech and behavior, he is straightforward, delivers his thoughts clearly, without unnecessary words. Able to find appropriate and strong arguments, is able to persuade. Persistent, confidently pursues goals and is able to lead others. (ESTJ, ENTJ - Te dominant function. ISTJ, INTJ - Te auxiliary function)
Introverted Thinking (Ti) - Introverted Thinking is a function that seeks to understand personal ideas using a deeply defined framework. Users of Introverted Thinking constantly dig into their own thoughts in an attempt to be rational and reasonable, slowly ruling out other ideas before coming to their own firm conclusions. A person of this type reflects a lot. It is important for him to hear other opinions and sort out his thoughts before making a decision so that he can ultimately make a rational decision. At the same time, the person often doubts his choice. (ISTP, INTP - Ti dominant function. ESTP, ENTP - Ti auxiliary function)
Extroverted Intuition (Ne) - Extraverted Intuition often means noticing algorithms, symbols, and connections in the world that others may not see. Extraverted Intuition users live for possibilities, often expressing themselves through the flow of ideas or constant external brainstorming. They may talk about many things they want to do, but don't think about the realization. They have a rich imagination and are quite dreamy. The person thinks in terms of cause and effect relationships and symbols. Can see connections that no one else can see, generates ideas, knows how to find opportunities for personal and professional fulfillment. This person has a well-developed imagination, but can deviate from reality and go into dreams. (ENTP, ENFP - Ne dominant function. INTP, INFP - Ne auxiliary function)
Introverted Intuition (Ni) - Introverted Intuition has been described as “knowing without knowing how or from where” and also as “thinking while not thinking”. This is the most mystical of all the MBTI functions. People with this function tend to draw conclusions without having a clear idea of how they arrived at it. They are wise, reasoning and always have a plan to work on the bigger picture and strive to build and understand complex systems by connecting everything together. Introverted Intuition users are always processing information in the background and regularly say “A-ha!” in a moment of realization when answers just come out of nowhere. They tend to look to the future and often live in the future more than the present, dreaming of future prospects. They may know something, but they themself does not remember how they knows it. They can make the right decisions, but they does not fully understand why they made that particular decision. This is a wise, judicious person with a broad outlook. (INTJ, INFJ - Ni dominant function. ENTJ, ENFJ - Ni auxiliary function)
Extroverted Feeling (Fe) - Extraverted Feeling is associated with harmony, bringing people together, and caring. Extraverted Feeling users are excellent at reading the emotions of others; they are great empaths, absorbing the feelings of others to the point where they sometimes cannot tell which feelings are their own. They easily sidestep conflict, and they tend to be very social. Extraverted Sense allows them to masterfully manipulate those around them. The person is characterized by strong empathy, is able to unite and bring people together, find an approach to different psychotypes. At the same time, he can too merge with the emotions of others, he may be difficult to distinguish his experiences from others. Such a person is able to smooth out conflicts, make acquaintances. This type has a great potential for social interaction. (ESFJ, ENFJ - Fe dominant function. ISFJ, INFJ - Fe auxiliary function)
Introverted Feeling (Fi) - Introverted Feeling is a function related to truthfulness, individualism, and values. Introverted Feeling users know what they believe, have a strong sense of self, and can easily identify their personal emotional experiences. They are often outspoken activists and love to help those in need. Their personal principles can be quite subjective, so those around them can hurt them, and then Introverted Sense users may openly show resentment. These are people with a strong inner core. Recognizes his feelings and needs very well, has a stable system of values and beliefs, respects his individuality and enjoys showing it. (ISFP, INFP - Fi dominant function. ESFP, ENFP - Fi auxiliary function)
Irrational functions are perceptual functions (Se, Si, Ne, Ni).
Rational functions are mental functions (Te, Ti, Fe, Fi).
Positions of Functions
1. Dominant function (Dominant / Dom)
The first function is called the dominant function, the strongest function, which you use so often that you may not even realize you're doing it. Primary function manifests itself in a person constantly, first catches the eye. He may not even notice these qualities himself, because he “lives” in them.
2. Auxiliary function (Auxiliary / Aux)
The second function is called the auxiliary function, which helps the dominant function communicate ideas and is also relatively strong in your personality. The secondary function is something that a person can use as an aid to strengthen his dominant function. He can usually name these qualities himself as his strengths.
3. Tertiary function (Tertiary / Tert)
The third function is the tertiary function, which may be a little underdeveloped, but as you get older it begins to show up more prominently in your personality. Tertiary is what helps a person in an emergency situation, becomes a “life jacket”.
4. Inferior function (Inferior / Inf)
The fourth function is your lowest function, which is the most difficult to use and often appears only under stress. It takes the longest to develop. The lowest is the one that shows up very rarely, is underdeveloped.
