Step Charts have been used in full length AACSB courses at numerous universities. For example, The University of San Diego built four MS courses around the Supply, eCommerce, Cost, and Supplier Development step charts. The University of Tulsa used the Cost, Program and Leadership steps charts in their Masters in Energy Management Program. And universities around the globe used the first version of the World-Class Supplier Management Step Chart for their Procurement, Purchasing and Supply courses.
At the beginning of any Masters level business course, objectives are reviewed. In a traditional course, the objectives are determined by the faculty member. If you start with a step chart, a rough analysis can be done by each manager and they can identify the objectives as gaps in knowledge he or she needs to focus on to deliver the greatest value from the course for themselves and their company. A good instructor can tailor the course to meet the real-world needs of the managers.
