The Pro 12 was an annual rugby union competition involving 12 professional sides heralding from: Japan, South Africa, England, China, USA, Romania and Italy.
The league was the only major professional league in the world, spanning both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.
The competition began in May 2017 with the 2017-2018 season running until January 2018. Upon its conclusion it was decided the league be dissolved, with World Rugby opting for a seeded, tiered league format for the upcoming 2018-2019 season. There's simply more money in it for them, and it saves viewers from watching horrific mismatches on a weekly basis.
The holder of the Leaders' Shield is Pets Gone Wild, who were defeated in the playoff final 14-17 by Japanese side, Land of the Rucking Sun.
Land of the Rucking Sun are the current champions of the Pro 12.
