RFC Checkatrade 0
The Ancient Megapowers surge towards the play-offs continued with a comfortable victory at home to RFC Checkatrade.
The Megapowers have now won their last six matches under new head coach Dido, whilst Phil Brown of the Tinpot Travellers has essentially been given his P45.
Physically the Megapowers were no match for the upfront onslaught of Pro 12 bruisers Colin Murdock and Sean Rigg, but the tactical awareness and decision making of club captain Publius Scipio ensured a cool and calculated sweep of scores.
Pig General finished off some fantastic phases before the half-time whistle. Socii Equite Extraordinarii ensured the cruising victory late in the second half. This defeat means that RFC Checkatrade have only scored 14 points in 240 minutes.
Dido on her teams revival since her appointment
"This team has always had quality. It just needed some fresh Carthaginian blood to whip those Roman lads into shape. Roman Engineer was happy to rot and earn 10 grand a week, but now he is a pivotal aspect of my team going forward".
Phil Brown on his teams lack of tries
"All I can do is put the boys on the team sheet. Once they step out of the cages of the Amphitheatre I have no control over missed tackles and a lack of determination. My top try scorer this half of the season gets himself sin binned within 20 minutes! I have no control over that. Don't even get me started on Teddy. He knows hes messed up today by taking contact when the pass out to Bradz was available. I've given him the next couple days off to rest him mentally. As for the speculation over my future I have just one thing to say: stick with me during the bad times, and I promise you next season I will give you a team you can be proud of".
Former Checkatradesman 'big' Geoff Horsefield agreed with Brown's assessment claiming, "me nan could have taken some of the chances Teddy squandered today".
