Hans in the Ruck - 0
Week 19 at Hunter Stadium brought no surprises to RC3 fans, as Verminators further cemented 4th position while banishing Hans in the Ruck out of playoff contention.
An early try from Colin Murdoch sparked fans' interest in the player, as he had never been perceived as a scoring threat before - in fact, barely anyone had noticed him impact any match in his career up until this point. Converted by Antoni Thermoregulation, the Infestation Nation were up 7-0 heading into half-time.
The second half saw some more encouraging phase play from Hans in the Ruck, who looked to be building pressure. An unfortunate handling error from Huang Zhong - who, controversially, started the match - brought a change of pace. A frustrated Sima Yi demonstrated horrific discipline and was binned for a high tackle shortly after the scrum.
Quick to seize the moment, Verminators pieced together a delightful break, courtesy of the new & improved Craig Busch, and punished Hans through a Steve Backshall try. Antoni failed to convert, which is unusual for him.
This marked the third scoreless match for Hans in the Ruck. We've received word from the Evening Rot journalist, James 'Middle-aged man' Cooper that Dong Zhuo has been taking unorthodox measures, in private, to soothe his fears: 'I've done some digging', writes James Cooper, 'and according to the Min County Council, they have received a planning permission application for a personal fortress from Han Dynasty General, Dong Zhuo. Here at the Rot we believe this as sign of Zhuo planning for the future. He knows his time is up, and there is speculation he is embezzling resources from the Chinese Rugby Union to help pay for this extravagant structure.'
Channel 5's Connor Murray spoke to Verminators Coach Jeff Conroy on his team's unprecedented performance this year: "Yes, Connor, i'm really chuffed with the lads' performance. I really value their loyalty and I consider a 4th place finish a greater achievement than my Primetime Emmy Award!"
Once Connor steered him away from talking about himself, he had this to say: "Oh! Yes, I heard about Dong Zhuo. You know when you meet someone and something just seems... off... about them? Yeah, him. He's a dodgy geezer and it wouldn't surprise me if he'd been up to some shady endeavors. Keep and eye out for him on Deadliest Catch next season!"
