The Infestation Nation cruised to victory against a depleted Megapowers side this afternoon at the Flavian Amphitheatre.

Antoni Thermoregulation led his squad to an early lead, making a case for himself in Golden Gumshield contention. His try merely got the ball rolling, as Steve Irwin crossed the line shortly afterwards.

Megapowers were missing star players Extraordinarii, Arcanii, and to a lesser extent, True Roman Cursus Publicus. Now there's a haircut you can set your watch to. The decision to put Lusitani Noble at fullback seemed to be effective, it's just Vincenzo Velite must have had his 'skirmish' button still on, as he wouldn't commit to a single tackle on the right flank.

Combined with Alpha Peasant going in the book for a filthy high tackle in the first half, the Ancient Megapowers looked a shadow of their former selves.

The second half saw yet more world class kicking from Antoni Thermoregulation, who also had a hand in two tries, from Melton Meat and Pascal Pesticide. The Verminators looked spectacular, bolstering their position in 4th place. Surely no-one can take that from them now?

Evening Rot journalist Bradley Selves spoke to Verminators Centre, Steve Backshall: "Yeah the lads are really happy about this one. Travelling out to Italy is always a groaner, I don't know anyone who enjoys it. You must remember that, Brad? Ha, tell you what, they should call us the Deadly XV after that performance!!". Backshall reportedly started banging on the chairs and clambering over the press table so the conference was brought to a close.

Fans will be disappointed in the Megapowers today, as in recent weeks their performances had garnered worldwide appraisal, with their fanbase almost doubling. The Evening Rot had this to say on the closing weeks of the Pro 12:
