EDEN LOST — EDEN RESTORED

A Prophetic Study on the Restoration of the Kingdom on Earth Before Christ Appears in the Clouds

“Eden Lost — Eden Restored”
“When Adam sinned, Eden was lost—not merely a garden, but the kingdom of God on earth. Yet from the very moment of the fall, Heaven announced a plan of restoration. The promise of the Seed (Genesis 3:15) was the promise that what was lost would be restored.
The Scripture declares that there shall come ‘times of restitution of all things’ (Acts 3:21). The Spirit of Prophecy affirms: The Eden that was lost by sin will be restored.’ — Prophets and Kings, p. 731
Before Christ appears in the clouds of heaven,
He prepares a people in whom His character is fully reproduced (Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 69). The restoration begins in the heart before it is seen in the earth.  As we pray, let us ask the Lord not only to restore the Eden without, but to restore the Eden within — that His kingdom may first be established in us, so it may soon be established upon the earth.”

Introduction

EDEN LOST — THE ORIGINAL KINGDOM ON EARTH

📖 1. God’s Original Purpose: A Kingdom on Earth

Genesis 1:26–28 – “Let them have dominion…”
Genesis 2:8–10 – The Garden planted in Eden.

Eden was not symbolic. It was:

A literal garden

A literal government (dominion)

A literal theocratic kingdom

Adam was crowned king under God.

SOP — Eden Was the Pattern of God’s Plan

As it came from the Creator's hand, not only the Garden of Eden but the whole earth was exceedingly beautiful. No taint of sin, or shadow of death, marred the fair creation. God's glory "covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise." "The morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy." Habakkuk 3:3; Job 38:7. Thus was the earth a fit emblem of Him who is "abundant in goodness and truth" (Exodus 34:6); a fit study for those who were made in His image.— Education, p. 22

The home of our first parents was to be a pattern for other homes as their children should go forth to occupy the earth. That home, beautified by the hand of God Himself, was not a gorgeous palace. Men, in their pride, delight in magnificent and costly edifices and glory in the works of their own hands; but God placed Adam in a garden. This was his dwelling. The blue heavens were its dome; the earth, with its delicate flowers and carpet of living green, was its floor; and the leafy branches of the goodly trees were its canopy. Its walls were hung with the most magnificent adornings--the handiwork of the great Master Artist.— Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 49

Thus, Eden = the model kingdom.

Shepherd’s Rod Insights

These things God does for His people, not because they are deserving, but for His name’s sake, because His promise cannot fail. The Kingdom of God, you see, does not begin in heaven, but on earth. And the Kingdom, you now see, is not to be made up of ghosts, but of living human beings, of saints, not a sinner among them. { 2TG1: 10.1 }

Yes, the Eden that was lost is to be restored. In fact, the Word plainly declares that Elias must first come and restore all things (Mark 9:12). As Eden was a real home at the beginning occupied by real human beings so shall it be again.
{ 2TG1:10.2 }

II. EDEN REMOVED — BUT NOT DESTROYED

After sin:

Genesis 3:22–24 – Man barred from Tree of Life.

✍️ SOP — Eden Preserved

 The Garden of Eden remained upon the earth long after man had become an outcast from its pleasant paths. The fallen race were long permitted to gaze upon the home of innocence, their entrance barred only by the watching angels. At the cherubim-guarded gate of Paradise the divine glory was revealed. Hither came Adam and his sons to worship God. Here they renewed their vows of obedience to that law the transgression of which had banished them from Eden… It was then removed from the earth.” — Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 62

⚠️ Important:

-It was removed -Not destroyed    -Preserved by God

III. THE PROMISE OF RESTORATION

📖 1. The Covenant Promise

Acts 3:19–21

“Times of restitution of all things…Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;  And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. ”

The word restitution means restoration to original condition.

Ezekiel 36:35 — “This land… is become like the garden of Eden.”

Isaiah 11:6–9 — Peaceful kingdom

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.  And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.  And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.  They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Ezekiel 36:35 — “This land… is become like the garden of Eden.”

IV. THE KINGDOM TO BE SET UP BEFORE THE SECOND COMING

📖 Daniel 2:44

“And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, [but] it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.”

Notice:

Not after the Second Coming

But in the days of these kings

V. SOP ON THE KINGDOM ESTABLISHED BEFORE CHRIST’S GLORIOUS APPEARING

✍️ Christ’s Object Lessons

“Christ is waiting with longing desire for the manifestation of Himself in His church. When the character of Christ shall be perfectly reproduced in His people, then He will come to claim them as His own.”
COL, p. 69

This shows:

A purified people first

Then Christ comes

✍️ Prophets and Kings

“In the last days… the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established His people have been permitted to look beyond the trials of the present to the triumphs of the future, when, the warfare having been accomplished, the redeemed will enter into possession of the promised land. These visions of future glory, scenes pictured by the hand of God, should be dear to His church today, when the controversy of the ages is rapidly closing and the promised blessings are soon to be realized in all their fullness.  {PK 722.1} — Prophets and Kings, p. 722–733 (Isaiah 2 exposition)

Clad in the armor of Christ's righteousness, the church is to enter upon her final conflict. "Fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners" (Song of Solomon 6:10), she is to go forth into all the world, conquering and to conquer.  {PK 725.1}

The darkest hour of the church's struggle with the powers of evil is that which immediately precedes the day of her final deliverance. But none who trust in God need fear; for "when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall," God will be to His church "a refuge from the storm." Isaiah 25:4.  {PK 725.2}

In visions of the great judgment day the inspired messengers of Jehovah were given glimpses of the consternation of those unprepared to meet their Lord in peace.  {PK 726.1}

"Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof; . . . because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate. . . . The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth." Isaiah 24:1-8.  {PK 726.2}

The word of the Lord to His faithful ones is: "Come, My people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the Lord cometh out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity." Isaiah 26:20, 21.  {PK 725.4}

 In visions of the great judgment day the inspired messengers of Jehovah were given glimpses of the consternation of those unprepared to meet their Lord in peace.  {PK 726.1}

     "Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof; . . . because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate. . . . The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth." Isaiah 24:1-8.  {PK 726.2}

     In that day only the righteous are promised deliverance.

EGW applies Isaiah 2 to last days before probation closes.

The Kingdom begins before the Second Coming

But complete Edenic glory follows afterward

Thus:
There is a progressive restoration:

Kingdom established (pre-advent)

Full Edenic restoration (post-millennium)
