Based on the Bible, History, and the Testimony of the Spirit
📖 Revelation 3:14–22
“And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write…”
Laodicea is the seventh church in the series of the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2–3. In prophetic application, it is not merely a local church of the past but represents the spiritual condition of God's church in the last days, particularly from the year 1844 until the return of Christ.
The word “Laodicea” comes from two Greek words:
Laos (λαός) = people, nation
Dike (δίκη) = justice, judgment
🟨 Therefore, “Laodicea” literally means:
“The people under judgment” or “The people of the judgment.”
📖 Daniel 8:14
“Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”
At the end of the 2300-day/year prophecy (457 B.C. + 2300 = 1844 A.D.), the judgment for the dead began in heaven, a phase known as the investigative judgment.
👉 Therefore, from 1844 onward, God’s people entered the time of Laodicea—a church under heavenly investigation, while on earth, they are being given warnings and calls to repentance, to return to God, and to receive gold tried in the fire, white raiment, and eyesalve.
📖 Early Writings, pp. 270–271
“The message to the Laodiceans is applicable to Seventh-day Adventists who have had great light, and have not walked in the light.”
✍️ According to her, the Seventh-day Adventist Church—as the recipient of the three angels’ messages and the light of the sanctuary—is itself the church of Laodicea. This is not an insult, but a merciful call to awaken us from our lukewarm condition, falsely thinking we are spiritually rich while actually being poor and blind in the sight of God.
📍 Since the church was organized after 1844, and Ellen White began receiving visions in that same time period, it is clear that her prophetic mission is directly connected to the prophetic condition of Laodicea.
1. Speaks according to the law and the testimony
📖 Isaiah 8:20 – “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
✅ All of Ellen G. White’s writings urge obedience to God's law and faith in Jesus Christ.
2. Prophetic words are fulfilled
📖 Jeremiah 28:9
✅ Many of her warnings have come true: the rise of spiritualism, the resurgence of papal power, the dangers of unhealthy living, pandemics, and global upheavals.
3. Bears fruits of righteousness
📖 Matthew 7:20 – “By their fruits you shall know them.”
✅ Her writings have led to millions of conversions, the founding of schools, hospitals, and lifestyle centers worldwide.
4. Does not glorify self
📖 John 16:13 – “He shall not speak of Himself…”
✅ Ellen White repeatedly said:
“I am a lesser light to lead men and women to the greater light.” (Colporteur Ministry, p. 125)
📜 Her message aligns with the Bible and prophecy
⏳ She was called in the exact time the judgment began (1844)
🔥 Her writings give a solemn call to the Laodicean church: to repent, buy gold, and walk with Christ
🕊️ Her ministry has brought forth fruits of righteousness and transformed lives
📖 Her messages meet all the Biblical criteria for a true prophet of God
