Here are some more of Bethan's ideas to get you started.
Engage the fives senses (whenever possible)
Make leaf prints ( paint the leaf and press the print into the journal)
Make leaf rubbings
Trace the items they are looking at
Add leaves into the journal using tape
Count the birds/squirrels/insects etc.

NOTE: You are encouraged to spend time in the outdoors Nature Journaling. However, you can also bring nature inside, look out your wonder window, have a refrigerator Safari or even observe a house plant or pet.
Can you count the number of flowers you can see in many different ways? Example: counting by 2's, 5's and 10's
Find three different flowers and count the petals on each flower. Show how you counted the petals by drawing. Then add the three numbers together to determine how many petals there are all together (show how you counted these three numbers in a variety of ways.
Show how you counted the petals on a number line
If you didn't plant the flowers you counted, how did they get there? If you did plant them, where did they come from?
Don't have any flowers? Look for leaves, pine cones, seeds or even blades of grass!
