Grade 8: Media Literacy

Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of media texts; identify some media forms and explain how the conventions and techniques associated with them are used to create meaning; create a variety of media texts for different purposes and audiences, using appropriate forms, conventions, and techniques; reflect on and identify their strengths as media interpreters and creators, areas for improvement, and the strategies they found most helpful in understanding and creating media texts.

Public Service Announcement (PSA)

This activity requires the student to do some online research.  They can use  E-books through PDSB BYOD  or other sources.

Create a short, informative advertisement about a current, past or future outdoor event to help the safety of your neighbourhood.

You have succeeded in reaching one alien but why not more?
Select a type of media you want to use to attract aliens to your location. To accompany the media you create be sure to justify the reasons for choices you made with regards to:

Once you have finalized your production reconnect with your primary alien contact (partner) and share your product with them. See if they have any suggestions to help increase the chance of attracting more aliens. Adapt your work to include these suggestions.
