A World of Music

Exploring different types of music from around the world is an endless endeavor along with learning about the different meanings that music has for each of us.  In this activity you will have an opportunity to explore various types of music along with various types of instruments worldwide. 

Some of your family and friends may come from other parts of the world where music is very different compared to what you are used to hearing.  Start by reaching out and communicating with family and friends, then expand to further research, to explore and learn about the following:

Now it's your turn!  What inspires you?  Create an instrument out of recycled materials and play it for someone in your family.

Gratitude Songs for Earth

Music allows us to communicate our feelings and allows us to share stories with one another.  In this activity you will have the opportunity to write a gratitude song about your love for planet earth.  Think about what is your favourite thing about the planet earth.  What are your favourite things about the natural world?  If you could talk to planet earth what would you say?  Feel free to incorporate vocals with your favourite instrument.  Consider the use of monophonic, homophonic, and polyphonic music. Which texture is used more? Remember to share your song with someone and spread your love for our planet!
