Formal Refinement
You have undergone training befitting your house and standing. At 3rd level, you do not suffer speed penalties from Heavy Armor. Choose one additional skill, tool, or vehicle to gain proficiency in. Additionally, you gain the following Resolve Action.
Honorable Death Only: As a reaction when you would drop to zero hit points, you may spend a Resolve to drop to one hit point instead. Additionally, you can make a single melee weapon attack as part of this reaction. The Resolve cost of this ability doubles each time you use it during a combat encounter.
Dutiful Loyalty
At level 6, when you roll for initiative, choose an allied creature to become your charge. While within 15 feet of your charge, if they are targeted by an attack roll, you may use your reaction to impose a CHA Saving Throw versus your Brawl Save DC against the attacker. On a failure, you become the target of the attack instead. If your charge would fall to zero hit points, you may use your reaction to move your movement speed and make a single melee weapon attack against the attacker at advantage. If you successfully protect your charge, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Samurai level.
Blazing Speed
At level 10, your speed and reflexes are unparalleled. When you roll for initiative, you gain a bonus to your initiative roll equal to your CHA modifier. Additionally, you can draw or sheath a weapon as a free action on your turn. Once per short rest, you can take an additional action on your turn.
Shame on Your House
Running away from an honorable fight is disgraceful. At level 13, once per turn per creature when a creature would provoke an attack of opportunity, you gain an additional reaction that may only be used to make a melee weapon attack against that creature. Additionally, whenever you are making an attack of opportunity, you may spend 1 Resolve to make two attacks instead. If you successfully hit with an opportunity attack, you can move up to half your speed without provoking attacks of opportunity.
Spirit of the Samurai
At level 18, your spirit and resolve inspire those around you. As an action, you can choose up to five allies within 30 feet. They gain advantage on all attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks until the start of your next turn. You also regain 1d4 Resolve points. This ability can be used once per long rest.
Former Strength
You've reached the strength that's whispered in the same breath as the samurai of old. At level 20, if your charge is below 50% hp, you deal three extra damage die to creatures within 10 ft of them. If you are below 50% hp, you gain +3 AC and 10 DR. These effects can both be active at the same time and are removed if you or your charge would be restored to above 50% hp. Additionally, if you or your charge are reduced to zero hit points but not killed outright, you can spend all your remaining Resolve (minimum 1) to regain hit points equal to twice your Samurai level.
