I have been slack on my working on this project with the holidays and moving. But I look forward to continuing. It is an exciting project, but we need to be patient and do it right.

We submitted for tax exemption last month on the 1023 EZ form and it was denied. I called the IRS and I'm still not sure why. But there is a silver lining. After viewing some YouTube videos it looks like it is better to fill out the long form 1023 anyways. Granters and Funders look at the full form 1023 to give out grants. This form is 26 pages long and it is very detailed as to the workings of a non profit. So it is a good thing to use for grants and to define our goals. So at this point we will take our time and fill this form out completely. If anybody knows of someone that would like to edit the final version that would be great. It costs $600 compared to the EZ at $275, and it takes 4-6 months to get tax exemption.

I am terrible at outreach, but we really need more people involved. I have business cards if anybody wants to use them. We also need board members. The board is supposed to only meet a few times a year. Their responsibility is to overlook the non profit. Officers should be the ones running it. We could also use non profit lawyers, researchers and generally anybody that is interested in this endeavor.
