Musique de la francophonie

Bonjour!

Thank you for visiting our site! Whether you are a student or a teacher of the French language, we hope this site helps you continue learning French through music!

This project started as a passion project one weekend in January 2021. When I realized it would be impossible to complete without help, over 35 people found the time to help create this website in the middle of a pandemic. A HUGE thank you to the team of people listed under Remerciements!

Please contact us with any feedback, suggestions, or appreciation you want to share! We would love to hear from you! I will forward any words of appreciation to the rest of the group!

Sincerely, Natasha

How to Use this Site

  1. Open this website on a computer browser for best results.

  2. Search through the themes on the left by clicking the theme title to see all the suggested songs. Click the arrow to the left of the theme's title to see songs with completed song pages.

  3. Narrow your search by using the search bar in the upper right hand corner. Some key terms to search include: #Primaire #Collège #Lycée | Niveau CEFR: A1 A2 B1 B2 C1 C2 | Ressources Pédagogiques, Jeu, Activité, TV5MONDE, Great-Song, Lyrics Training, country names, song title or artists' names.

  4. Look for songs with an emoji next to them.
🐢 - The turtle emoji is to refer to Indigenous artists of Turtle Island
🌈 - The rainbow emoji is to refer to artists or songs representing the 2SLGBTQ+ community

For Educators

Please note, it is always your responsibility to screen songs for your students' maturity & language level. Some songs are not appropriate for younger students.

Check out available resources under "Enseigner la musique" and "Ressources Additionnelles".

If you are interested in being part of the team creating new resources to add to this website, please send us an email indicating your interest. You will be added to our mailing list and will get invites to future opportunities for collaboration. I hope we can work as a team to create READY-TO-USE lessons / docs for the songs on this site soon. If you're interested in being part of this important project, please email us!

This website is unfinished and will always be a work in progress. We will continually update it as we have time! Do consider sending in your own original lesson plans, materials, blogs, to link up to the site. Further, if you know there are lessons publicly available online (e.g. TV5Monde, Lyrics Training, EdPuzzle) for songs on this site - please send them in! Thank you!
