Deuteronomy 4:35-39
There is Only One God, There is No Other
35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other. 36 From heaven he made you hear his voice to discipline you. On earth he showed you his great fire, and you heard his words from out of the fire. 37 Because he loved your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, 38 to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today.
39 Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
Isaiah 65:16
The One True God
16 Whoever invokes a blessing in the land
will do so by the one true God;
whoever takes an oath in the land
will swear by the one true God.
For the past troubles will be forgotten
and hidden from my eyes.
John 8:58
Before Abraham Was Born Jesus Existed
58 “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”
John 14:1-31
Jesus Comforts His Disciples
1 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”
8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me.Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?”
23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not say much more to you, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold over me, 31 but he comes so that the world may learn that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.
“Come now; let us leave.
Matthew 9:6-13
I Desire Mercy Not Sacrifice
6 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home.” 7 Then the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to man.
9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. 11 When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”
Mark 8:29
Who Do You Say Jesus is
29 "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Messiah."
Some people are just downright different...In the world since the beginning and especially the Jewish world, there was and is One True God...This is written by Moses, "You were shown these things so that you might know that the LORD is God; besides Him there is no other...From heaven He made you hear His voice to discipline you...On earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words from out of the fire...Because He LOVED your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, He brought you out of Egypt by His Presence and His great strength, to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today...Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below...There is no other."...So, there is no other God...And also is written about by one of God’s Great Prophets…It was Isaiah who wrote, whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the One True God; whoever takes an oath in the land will swear by the One True God...For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes...
The Hebrew people more than any people knew God to be the One and Only True God of the world and universe...God had long ago made a covenant with Abraham a Hebrew...Yet, a Man comes one day, and He is a Jewish Man who has much wisdom and is very different...He comes to this very land of Israel and very much blurs our vision about God...And this blurriness is in what He says and in what He does...In the Hebrew culture filled with sacrifice as a way to pardon a sin, this Man said, “I desire mercy not sacrifice...For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."...This Man saw God a little bit, no make that a lot different than any other person has ever seen or wrote about Him...This Man even went around forgiving people...And by forgiving others, He seems to be telling us that the universe and His Creation are alright, but it is us who have gone wrong...Otherwise, why else forgive someone and people you have never met....What have they done?...Forgive them for what?...And who gives this Man the authority to forgive and what is He forgiving, unless one does believe the universe is right and man is inherently tied to his sinful nature...And this Man wants us to know who has given Him this forgiveness authority and tells us, that I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.”...So He says to a paralyzed man, “Get up, take your mat and go home."...And this paralyzed man can now walk...And he does get up and walk and take his mat home...And this Remarkable Man heals people quite often and very much quite commonly...
He also said He was in God and God was in Him...He said if you have seen Him, you have seen God...And He has the ability to send us a Holy Spirit and He promises us the Holy Spirit...And during this conversation about the Holy Spirit He tells us He is going back to God...The True God that is in heaven...
And these things He did and said very much blur the vision of the one who believes that there is this only One True God...The Man makes us believe He is from God and maybe is actually God’s Son, and maybe He is actually God in the Flesh...Because He is full of Wisdom, and full of Truth and Grace...With complete control of His Words and the vocabulary, He never comes right out and says that He is God, but He says He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life...He does make us believe that their is a Divine God, a Divine Son, and a Divine Holy Spirit as we read about Him...And He does surprise many all over the world by saying He is the Only Way to God...And He does say I AM, in reference to the Patriarch Abraham, so maybe we just can't believe He is God...Because God's name is I AM...
How can He be the Only Way to God?...All of a sudden by saying this and the other things He says and is doing, we are all of a sudden given a new religion...We are given a new religion because if you are the only Way to God, then you must be Divine and be a Special Man...So if getting to God is only through Him, then Christianity has to begin with Him...He is a Man one cannot ignore because of what He says and what He does...He brings theology to life, and one actually must have a dogma, a belief, because of Him...Because now the world is either random as many people say it is, or it is like He says, the world is troubled and He came to testify to us about the Truth...He shows us we are sinners, and we thank God He came for us sinners...So which world do you see and who do you think this Man is?...
