Matthew 9:29-30
Jesus on Faith
29Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; 30and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this." 31But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region.
Matthew 17:20
Jesus on Faith
20He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 24:9-14
Jesus on Faith
9You will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Mark 11:22-25
Jesus on Faith
22"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. 23"I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins."
Luke 7:6-10
Jesus on Faith
6He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. 7That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
9When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." 10Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.
Luke 12:27-31
Jesus on Faith
27"Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! 29And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.
Luke 17:5-6
Jesus on Faith
5The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" 6He replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you.
Luke 18:6-8
Jesus on Faith
6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
Jesus speaks to us about faith often...According to their faith, two blind men are healed...Jesus tells them and teaches us a little faith goes a very long way...If we have the faith of a mustard seed, we can move mountains...
At the end of the ages, many will turn away from their faith...We must stand firm in our faith, so we at the end times will be saved...
Jesus tells us in Mark that if we have faith in God, we can move mountains...Keep up your faith, by believing you have received the things, you have ask for in prayer...Act as if, you have received them and be thankful for that... When you pray know that God knows best and it is God that is in control...Jesus always prayed for God's guidance in His prayers...So pray that God's will be done in your prayers, as Jesus did and taught us in the Lord's prayer, when He says Let Thy will be done...
In Luke, Jesus is amazed that the Gentile centurion had such great faith, when He had not seen this much faith in the Israeli people...Jesus heals the centurion's servant, because of his great faith in Him...Luke continues the story of faith..If we have faith, Jesus tells us we need not worry...God will provide our daily bread, our clothes, all that we need...If we seek our Father's kingdom first, the other things in life will be given to us as well...
A little faith takes just that faith...If we have faith the size of a mustard seed, nothing will be impossible to us...A little faith can go a long way, if we use it...When we pray and ask the Father and Son to increase our faith, we should also consider, asking God to help us use the faith we already have...
When Jesus returns at the end of times will we all still have faith...We must remember daily to pray and keep our guard up...We must keep and be prepared...In our daily prayers look and seek His guidance... He created all things in the beginnings...He has the power to keep us standing firm during all times, if we earnestly and sincerely seek Him and His will..
Galatians 2:15-20
We Are Justified by Faith and Saved by God's Grace
15"We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' 16know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.
17"If, while we seek to be justified in Christ, it becomes evident that we ourselves are sinners, does that mean that Christ promotes sin? Absolutely not! 18If I rebuild what I destroyed, I prove that I am a lawbreaker. 19For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!"
St. Paul tells us it is not by the perfect following of Moses Law or our moral law that gets us to heaven...It is the faith in Christ that justifies us...God through His grace give us salvation through His Son, Jesus, who died for us and each one of us and each one of our sins...We must have faith...We must believe in the Son of God and the One who sent Him...
Jesus teaches us much on and about faith in the Gospels in the New Testament ...Jesus was and is completely focused on the Father...The Son's teachings are sometimes hard to understand, but He wants us to seek God everyday...He wants God to be a part of ours lives everyday, not just when we or our friends or family are suffering...He wants us to follow God and Him everyday, and not just on Easter...God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, in us are the purpose of life...Jesus teaches us to have God, the Father, a central part of our lives...
Jesus gave us the two great sermons, the Sermon on the Mount and the Sermon on the Plain...Jesus teaches us a commitment to Him, is not a life here on earth of comfort...Life on earth is not to be one of thinking of oneself...It also is not what we accumulate on earth...The most important thing in one's life is our love and relationship with the Father...The second is our love and relationship with our neighbor...To make these two things the most important in our lives, we must follow Him and have faith in Him...
Our faith can weaken or strengthen by events in our lives...Major events in our lives that give us pause, can question or strengthen our faith...Jesus knows this...Jesus knows that our faith can be strong one day and much less the next...He also knows that faith can lessen after an event in our lives, as it did with His disciples...The night of His arrest, He needed His disciples...He ask them to pray...They were sleepy and could not stay awake to pray...Later that night He is arrested...He needs their support and they scatter from Him with fear and anxiety...Jesus dies alone on the cross, because of our sins, not His...
Then after three days, Jesus resurrects from the dead...This event is much different than His arrest...Upon the first seeing the resurrected Jesus there is some hopeful confusion, and doubt (Thomas, especially)...But as they see Him more after the resurrection, their faith and trust grow in Him...The disciples change from failing, denying, and leaving Him, into pillars of strength who would now die for Him...This resurrection event is the most important fact, we have for the growth of Christianity, and for our own personal faith...After the resurrection the disciples stopped doubting and believed...They now had the faith they needed...The disciples with St. Paul's help would bring a new religion to the whole world...Faith brings Christianity to the world...
Faith is ever present...Faith is as much about the future, as it is about now...A little faith goes a long way...When we have faith, we presume a future... A Christian faith centers around a positive future...Faith is not only about about now, but faith is also focused on an eternal future, a future with Jesus Christ...
