Mark 10:51-52
Your Faith Has Healed You
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Mark 10:13-16
Faith of a Child
13 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.
Jesus often said to others as He healed them, "your faith has healed you."...He said this as a matter of fact...He is divine and can heal (and heal anyone)...He would sometimes just state this very simply "your faith has healed you."...Since Jesus cannot lie we know that He believes in all His statements, because they are truth...In reading when He says "your faith has healed you", I often would just gloss over this statement, because He says it so simply and easily...
When Jesus talks about the little child or children, He tells us that we must have the faith of a child to receive God's Kingdom...Children because of their ways and their very nature do not complicate things -even things such as faith...A child has a simple faith...A child's faith is not burdened or shrouded with all the things older adults can cloud up, put obstacles up, and weaken their faith...
So as we read these verses faith can be simple for some and I expect it is...It is easy for some to say I have faith in Jesus and His Father and I believe in Them...And I certainly agree with Jesus in believing that faith can be simple for the young, pure, and untainted mind...
But for me faith is not that easy...I am much older than the young child in St. Mark's gospel...I have doubts, days of disbelief and troubled days that test my faith...For me faith is not simple...I must study the Bible, seek my Father each and everyday and talk to His Son regularly...I am constantly on different days, working around my doubts -trying to strengthen my faith...For me I must question, continually seek, learn, and keep searching for answers about Him and His Son...Belief in God for me, requires effort, discipline, and always seeking some or one new thing to learn about Him...For me faith is not so simple and not so easy...
