18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone."
Why does man seek and look for goodness?...Why does man have laws?...Why did God’s people, the Hebrew people feel it necessary to write out the laws in the Bible that they did?...If there is no goodness, why is there even a need for laws?...If there were no laws and more importantly no goodness, it would be that every man is independent and would be allowed to fend for himself and do whatever he would want -good or evil...But there are things instilled in us that seems to need not proof...And this is the proof in those things that they are just presupposed and self evident...There are certain things in life that seem to have no reason for an explanation...Certain things like human rights need no explanation...Treating people fairly is another...Certain things in life are just obvious, clear, plain, and evident...
One of the most famous claims of this belief in self-evidence was that of the moral truths in the United States Declaration of Independence...When the founding fathers wrote, "We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness”, the founding fathers believed in this belief of self evidence...The founding fathers of the United States saw that it is self evident and needs no explanation that man has in his life the right to have a life, a good life, to have a life of liberty, and to be able to pursue whatever he finds happy (within the laws)...So laws are necessary for those few who wish to break them, but the overwhelming majority of mankind see a distinction between right and wrong...
Now everyone will not agree with the Declaration of Independence and its pre-supposition of self evidence beliefs, but most people...And there will be evil people who do not all people have the right to liberty, and to search for happiness in their lives...There is this instinctive right just to be treated fairly...And most people will believe it, when it comes down to their own personal life, when they are personally being treated unfairly...
The laws that Moses wrote out shows us a need for man-made laws, but to me Mosaic Law also shows that there are God made natural laws like the laws of morality...These man made laws are linked to Godly laws like ethics and morality...So, I believe, the God's moral laws lead the way to our man made laws...Without God’s law, if most or all people believed in evil, then evil would take over the world and probably destroy the world...The good laws of man are founded and written from the laws of God...Goodness and fairness and justice are the basis for laws...Maybe goodness and fairness and justice are a part of LOVE...Without goodness and love only the strong would survive in the world...The weak would be cast off...But goodness brings with it, value of life, all life...And this concept of goodness comes from God, because Jesus tells us only God is good...For those who believe in Jesus, then we must believe that goodness originates from God...And that God is the source of all goodness and our morality and is the basis for our good laws...
