1 John 4:8
God is LOVE
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Mark 10:18
Only God is Good
18 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good--except God alone."
Ephesians 6:4
Bring Up Children in the Instruction of the LORD
4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
John 8:31-38
Jesus' Disciples Know the Truth, and This Truth Will Set You Free
31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s descendants. Yet you are looking for a way to kill me, because you have no room for my word. 38 I am telling you what I have seen in the Father’s presence, and you are doing what you have heard from your father.”
Can we be good without God?...The non-believer believes that we can choose right and wrong by ourselves, and somehow naturally learn how to be morally good...We can grow up without instruction or the need to be shown goodness and what good is...The followers of Jesus believe that we need God to teach us right and wrong and how to be morally good...God is our Moral Lawgiver...We need His instruction...This is because only God is good...While man is tainted with a sinful nature...
For me, I learn much about God's Goodness from His Son...God helps us to to be morally good...
A person needs morals...And those who have faith, believe that morals come from God...So. we as children need to be taught the morals of God...And if not at the time of our childhood, we need to be taught about the LORD and His goodness later...But St. Paul wrote to the Ephesians and told parents not to infuriate or irritate their children, instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the LORD...
So St. Paul was one who believed that children needed these instructions of the LORD and the Bible to help them morally grow...Not only does each individual child and person need morals, a country needs morals and moral values...
Charles Carroll, one of the signers of our Declaration of Independence said, “Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments.”...
Seeking the Truth is of the utmost importance...Truth is Good...Skepticism can be good or can be bad...If skepticism is used to seek the Truth and is willing to accept the Truth when they find it...That is good...God and His Word encourages us to seek the Truth, and therefore we can make our own decisions of what Absolute Truth is...
God is good, and thus we need to rely on His understanding...So while there will be times when we read the Bible and the gospels, there will be some things we do not understand...And faith helps us here...We can better see that we can trust in God and lean not on our own understanding when we trust in Him...
