Be it ordained by the Township Council of the Township of Gloucester, in the County of Camden and State of New Jersey, as follows:

§ 61-1. Definitions.

As used herein:

PERSON - Shall denote and include any "person," partnership, firm or corporation, and any member or officer of any of the same, and shall include both the masculine and feminine sexes.

JUNK SHOP - Shall mean and include any place of business for the purpose of buying, selling and storing, or any of them, old junk, ropes, iron, brass, copper, tin, lead or any other metal or metals, old automobiles and trucks and other abandoned or nonusable vehicles, old paper, bottles, rubber in its various forms, or any of them, sand such other miscellaneous assortment or articles and materials which are commonly classified and designated as junk.

JUNKYARD - Shall mean and include any place where any of the articles or any combination thereof designated in the definition of "junk shop" are stored or kept, whether for sale or not, and shall include any lot, place, building, structure or yard, whether improved or unimproved, where such articles or any of them are permitted to accumulate.

§ 61-2. Maintenance of junkyard or junk shops unlawful.

It shall be unlawful for any person to keep, maintain or operate a junk shop or junkyard, as herein defined, within the limits of the Township of Gloucester from and after the passage of this ordinance.

§ 61-3. Violations and penalties.

Any person violating the terms of this ordinance or refusing or neglecting to comply with any of the provisions hereof shall, upon conviction therefor, be subject to a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.) or imprisonment in the County Jail of the County of Camden for a period of not more than ninety (90) days, or both, in the discretion of a court of competent jurisdiction.

§ 61-4. Inconsistent ordinances repealed.

All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith be and the same are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency only.

§ 61-5. When effective.

This ordinance shall take effect immediately.
