Be it ordained by the Township Council of the Township of Gloucester, in the County of Camden and State of New Jersey, as follows:

§ 60-1. Discharge of firearms/hunting.
Except as noted in Section C.
A. No person shall, within the territorial limits of the Township of Gloucester, hunt, attempt to hunt or discharge firearms of any type including rifles, shotguns, pistols, air guns and BB guns, at any time.
B. No person shall discharge any firearm upon or across any State, County or Township road or highway.
C. No person except the owner or lessee of the property persons specifically authorized by him in writing shall hunt, discharge or have in his possession a loaded gun while within One Thousand Five Hundred (1,500) feet of any occupied dwelling in the Township of Gloucester or Township Recreational building or field or within One Thousand Five Hundred (1,500) feet of a school playground.[Added on 03-26-07 by Ord. § 60-2. Exception to firearms restrictions.
A. Nothing in this ordinance shall prohibit the use of firearms for the protection of life, persons or property.
B. The provisions of this Ordinance shall not apply to any pistol, shotgun or rifle range equipped with proper safeguards for protection of life and property, or operated by any club under the control and supervision of the duly constituted officers of such club, and the duly authorized Gloucester Township Police Training Range.
C. The following pistol, shot gun, rifle range are determined present exceptions to this ordinance:
1. Private Gun Range on Garwood Road - Block15805, Lot 20, Lot 20.l
2. Gloucester Township Police Training Range - Block 14003, Lot 25

§ 60-3. Violations and Penalties.
Any person convicted of violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not more than two hundred dollars ($200.00) or to imprisonment in the County jail for a period not exceeding sixty (60) days, or both in the discretion of the Magistrate before whom such conviction shall be had. § 60-4. Severability.
In the event that any section or part of this ordinance shall be held invalid, adjudication shall apply only to the section of the part so adjudged, and the remainder of said ordinance shall be deemed valid and have effect.
§ 60-5. Repealer.
All ordinances and parts of ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby expressly repealed.
§ 60-6. When effective.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage and publication according to law.

§ 60-7. Discharge and possession of firearms.

No person shall discharge any firearm upon or across any state, county or township road or highway, and no person except the owner or lessee of the property and persons specifically authorized by him in writing shall have in his possession a loaded gun while within four hundred fifty (450) feet of any occupied dwelling in the Township of Gloucester or while within four hundred fifty (450) feet of a school playground.
§ 60-8. Violations and penalties.
Any person violating any section or provision of this ordinance may, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine for each infraction not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.) or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding ninety (90) days, or both.
§ 60-9. When effective.
This ordinance shall take effect immediately after final passage and publication according to law.
