While I already had an ogre army, I couldn't help but start a second one. This one I built for a doubles competition I held many years ago. I was allying with a friend who only had tomb kings which left me with few options. However Arabyan Ogres fit nicely, while giving fun conversion opportunities and a nice counterpoint to the Tomb Kings playstyle.
We didn't do great at the tournament, but had a great time regardless.
Since then I've got a bunch more ogres I'm partway through converting up. I'm adding some Ironguts, more leadbelchers and the Big Boss himself.
Al'Owd'Din, the leader of this protection racket/sultanate is going to be built using Greasus Goldtooth, but on a magic carpet rather than a wave of Gnoblars. He's almost finished, I'm just having trouble making the carpet look realistic for his bulk.
Desert Eater Tribe
The Desert Eater tribe have set themselves up as 'defenders' of the great trade routes between Araby and the northern realms. Here they protect the great caravans against sand devils, marauding armies, the undead, but most importantly for the caravan, from the Desert Eaters themselves. This protection comes at a great cost, and has set the Sultan up as a very wealthy ogre.
After decades prowling the dunes for some sand blown caravan to help, the sultan has earned a name for himself. His tribe is often paid to go to war for many of the caliphates in their unending civil wars and raids. While this further lines the Sultan's coffers, it has also instilled the Arabyan culture on his tribe. A culture he is more than happy to cultivate.
Leader: Sultan Al'Owd'Din Giantbreaker Greatclub the Excessively Hefty
No one in living memory has seen the great sultan walk, for he is always borne aloft upon a magical flying carpet. As a young mercenary he found his way south through the badlands, to the great desert of Araby. Here he fought for a while in various households' guards, witnessing the finery and wealth of the sultans. Tiring of the bodyguard life he strove to build himself a kingdom in his new homeland and, stealing his master's magical carpet he fled the city. Al'Owd'Din started small, convincing a small tribe of ogres to join him. By clubbing the bruiser into the sand with his enormous iron spiked club, he earned himself the loyalty of the tribe. From here the tribe grew as their renown did. They traveled north to the badlands and here the sultan cowed the great giant Nurk. Nurk was renamed Nazzar and fights happily at the sultan's side.
