The 23rd Company of the 8th Tallarn Infantry Regiment, better known as the Wind Stalkers, has a strong reputation for quick, decisive hit-and-run tactics. They strike fast at key strategic elements before disappearing back into the dunes. The first the enemy knows of their imminent demise is the high pitched whine of incoming mortar fire, this is followed by the rumble of engines as the Leman Russ, Dunerumbler, and trio of Sentinels burst forth from an unexpected quarter. The infantry themselves then engage the foe in a flash of plasma fire and lasguns. Encounters are generally short affairs as the Tallarn soldiers strike hard at their targets and disappear before the enemy can bring their numbers to bear.
As part of the Instari Crusade, the 7th regiment were fighting a losing battle in the Romulagos system, and relegated to guerilla warfare to cover the retreat of their allies. During this conflict the 7th Regiment were assigned the services of the Knight ______.
Knight’s orders were jumbled and the knight came to believe that it was her duty to be on permanent assignment with the 23rd. This has caused much friction between Commander and Knight as their respective styles of engagement differ greatly.
As the Wind Stalkers were assigned to the pacification force for the Sor Juana campaign, Knight joined them despite arguments from Commander. They have become less than hostile partners over the campaign but friction still remains.

Trudging through the Jungle for weeks - sentinels on endless scout duty, the soldiers of the 8th were providing support for the Templar's daily forays into the depths of the jungle. Finally, the Templars discovered signs of movements and several days later they were tracked to a small abandoned outpost from the times before the storm.
Scrying and servo-skull probing determined the forces were returning to the outpost and Templars planned to hit them hard as they were coming back through the jungle, before they are able to make the most of the defensive positions.
The Sentinels struck out to take the eastern flank while the vanguard forces of the Black Templars headed in to take the centre and pressure the outpost, while the Heavy Support detachment, under Captain Ildrud Javed took up positions on the west and begun their bombardment of the cultists that were left behind to defend.
The remaining templars were to arrive in the centre to bolster their brothers there while the Tallarn forces were to outflank to the east. Knight ____, having some difficulty in the dense jungle terrain was to be held as a reserve and brought in where the fighting was thickest - since redeployment would be too difficult for her.
The information provided was good, the strike began as there was only a small defensive force of cultists holding the outpost. The Templars plan began well, however they were not prepared for a second Chaos force. Steel Weasel the sentinel was the first to vox through the return of the chaos forces. They were sighted shortly after the mortar bombardment began, as a Helbrute and Maulerfiend burst through the foliage. What was unexpected however was these did not share livery with the chaos forces encountered already, but showed insignia of the Thousand Sons, with Ahriman himself guiding the metallic beasts of chaos towards the Templars.
With the missiles of the sentinels and predator autocannon taking a heavy toll on the chaos bohemoths the Imperial plan was proceeding well. A final screech of metal and something daemonic signalled the death of the maulerfiend, a kill claimed by sentinel pilot Ahdem, renaming his charge Beastbane.
The remaining templars reinforced the centre, and not a moment too soon as several units of Thousand Sons teleported right in front of them. Rubric Marines and Scarab Terminators laid down a torrent of warpflame and bolterfire as they flashed into positions, while Ahriman and his brotherhood set about stripping the souls from the marines. The will of the Templars not quite enough to protect them. The Templars returned fire, before the zeal of the black clad marines drew them forth to fight the warriors of Ahriman at close quarters. The fighting was intense and bloody/dusty, but eventually the Templars were victorious. With a blinding purple flash, the surviving sorcerer disappeared, taking Ahriman with him to the rear of the chaos lines, leaving the templars to gather the wounded and push on to the outpost.
As the firefight ended in front of the outpost, the infantry of Tallarn proved their skills were more than capable in jungle as well as desert. Their forces quickly surrounded the outpost and began to increase the pressure on the defenders. The Dune Scorpions quickly spotted their target and brought their sniper rifles to bear on the Dark Apostle hoping to break the control he had on the cultists.
The plan was running smoothly with the chaos forces surrounded and under intense fire when from the jungle to the south west of the imperial lines came a deep rumbling. Two rhinos burst into the clearing as well as a horde of cultists, the Lord and his chosen warriors.
While Colonel Al’ikarr was reacting to the arrival of this large contingent of Marines, and cursing himself for not scouting well enough to prevent this from happening, another large body of cultists appeared to the north putting enough pressure on the veterans to fall back, taking heavy casualties.
To his relief though, he could see exhaust plums drifting above the canopy and moments later the trees parted, revealing the green armoured form of Knight _____. The chaos reacted quickly and halted their assault on the rear of the Tallarn lines, instead turning all their guns upon the Knight. She was ready however and had intensified the power to the forward ion shield, weathering the worst the chaos could throw at her before returning fire. Her avenger gatling cannon cutting a swathe through the marines before she reached down and crushed a rhino in her steel grip. Tossing the rhino aside she strode in amongst the remaining marines causing devastation.
The arrival of the the Knight was the very large straw that broke the chaos backs and they retreated into the jungles, leaving the Imperials with a good victory, but not any wiser to the chaos intentions.
