I really liked the idea of the Outriders warband that came out with the Nemesis Crown worldwide campaign. After reading many novels of Empire Knights going about their business with just themselves and their small retinue, I really wanted to see this on the table top. The grimier, grittier aspect of the Knightly Orders counterpoint to the shining charge of units of them on the tabletop.
THere's some absultely great stories and short stories about Empire Knights in various books. From small parties or lone knights travelling the wilds of the Empire to large brotherhoods of orders within the Cities, there's just so much great inspiration to draw on.
I've got the Pistolier/Outrider box and a huge bitzbox, I just need to decide which Order to start with and what paint scheme.
At the moment the shortlist is:
Averland's Order of the Black Bear
Knights Panther (since I already have a unit of them in my Empire army)
Ostland's Bulls (or some other fancy bull-like name)
Knights of the Blazing Sun
Alternatively I might use 1d4chan's Empire Knightly Order Creation Table and see what comes up
What is the order’s age?

Present: Many of the inner circle’s knights ride monstrous mounts
What is the most venerated relic in the order’s possession?
An intricately sealed reliquary said to house “the very spirit of the order”
Well that creates an interesting Order. I think I'll save rolling on the sigil table until after I've had a think about the order first.
