I started Ogres when the first Ogre Kingdom book came out for 7th edition. It had such a different aesthetic to it, and really felt 'new' in warhammer. I really liked how gut magic worked and built this force to really grab hold of that Neanderthal, Mammoth hunting, nomadic idea. The old tribes in the first Army Book gave me a great place to start and play with. Originally I styled my force as the one allied to Clan Moulder, collecting beasts for them to experiment on. This evolved over time to become the Feastgather Tribe.
The push to 'finish' this army (I am so close to finishing it, just need to paint one solitary BSB and its done) came when I hosted a small tournament for our group. We had a few tournaments over the years and really enjoyed them, both for an excuse for a day of games and motivation to paint up an army. It held it's own pretty well, and finished top in this particular one, which was nice. I think it was the painting score that boosted it to the top. There were some memorable moments in this tournament too. First and foremost, was the Ironguts stuck in combat with the steam tank. That was messy! I found the sabretusks to be the player of the tournament for me too, the freedom they give to Ogres is great. Whether its as a deployment drop, wizard hunter, chaff or re-director, those fearsome felines are worth having.
The Feastgather Tribe inhabits the Blackwall Mountains, here they service the other tribes by hunting down the biggest and tastiest monsters for their feasts. They also work in acquiring specific cuts of meats for the various butchers in the region. Their renown is growing as more young bulls flock to their banner to be a part of their great hunts.
Leader: Urgnog Tusk Puller Big Skins (Hunter)
Urgnog used to be a lone hunter uninterested in the plight of his fellow ogre tribes. He lived the nomadic life of a hermit roaming the Blackwall, hunting whatever crossed his path. His solitary life was interrupted one day when young Thurg who was out hunting for ingredients came across Urganog sitting on the carcass of a mournfang and tearing its tusks out. Thurg reasoned that if he could convince Urganog to hunt for him, he would become the favoured Butcher of his tribe.
A bargain was struck between Urganog and Thurg, and since that day they have hunted together. Slowly, word travelled and many young bulls flocked to Urganog to join him and learn his craft. Urganog was hesitant at first and slew the first few to arrive. But as more and more bulls joined him, he realised the potential of having a tribe at his beck and call. He could now hunt bigger prey.
Mounted upon the back of his mighty stonehorn, Garrr, Urgnog wields his harpoon launcher with deadly accuracy.
Notable figures:
Thurg (Butcher)
As part of the Feastgather tribe, Thurg prepares and performs rites with all the tribe kills. He keeps a portion of each kill and sells them to neighbouring tribes for exorbitant prices in gnoblars, favours and gold.
Durn Brawlhammer (bruiser)
Of the first bulls to join Urgnog, all but one was bested in a brawl. While his travelling companions fought Urganog before him, and were beaten, Durn waited his turn until none remained save Urganog. Bellowing his challenge he strode towards the tiring Urganog (who's just bested 6 Bulls in turn). With fists clenched above his head he drove them down onto Urganog's head, knocking him out cold. Rather than eat Urganog as is custom he waited until the grizzled hunter regained consciousness then joined him in eating his comrades. Thus a bond was formed and Durn was named Brawlhammer. Since that time he has been Urganog's trusted feasting companion, and bears the tribes banner to battle.

Mournfang
Ironguts
Bulls
The various ogres that have since joined Urganog's tribe form a single unit upon the battlefield. This is as much to create a wall of flesh to pen in monsters as it is to keep them all together and out of Urganog's way.
