So I've decided to jump right into Necromunda with House Escher. A few reasons for this, firstly the strong female characters, secondly the 80's/90's Punk vibe, thirdly high initiative options, and finally they came in the Underhive starter set. When playing Mordheim I've always enjoyed warbands with good movement and initiative. These small games have always been all about climbing (and falling) for me, and any faction that struggles with that, I've found difficult to get into.
So given it's going to be my first gang, and I haven't fully read the rules or much of the depth of the background yet. I thought I'd let random chance start me off down this rabbit hole. After finding a few random name generators around the place, I introduce you to the Xenon Yearners. I think I'll keep the fluff for them short and sweet for now, and let it build itself as I play. But the basics will be; they are a gang that run several of the Hive's Tattoo Parlours. Livleta was always heavily tattooed and claims it was the tattoos that saved her life. As a budding artist she had always experimented with her own tattoos, trialing various drugs, poisons and venoms. After a failed assault on a hive spider nest as a Juve she was bitten on the leg and arm. Normally such a bite would be terminal, yet the spider's venom didn't take her life. She puts this down to the natural immunity her body had built up from her tattoos. Being the entrepreneurial type, she started her first parlour and a small gang.
I found it a bit harder than originally thought to kit-bash and convert these. The models are great, but unfortunately are designed in the new GW way that make kit-bashing that little bit harder. Also, the joints are all a bit smaller than most of my bits box stuff. But I won't let that stop me.
