Set in the treacherous asteroid belt, Sombra Minoris was a network of hollowed-out asteroid prisons, connected by ancient mining trams and void tunnels. It served as a dumping ground for the unwanted — not only criminals, but political exiles, unsanctioned psykers, and techno-heretics deemed too valuable to waste.
In exchange for silence and obedience, the wardens provided labor battalions for mining, tech salvage, and occasionally, experimentation by the Mechanicum of Secundus.
It was the dirty secret of the system — rarely spoken of, officially expunged from Imperial charts, and maintained as a "red-ink" operation by the Officio Prefectus.
Minoris became the first target of the traitors for the war of Sombra, setting the horrific standard for the war to follow…
Introduction
Welcome to The battle for Sombra Minoris, a Horus Heresy 3.0 Slow Grow Event.. The event will take place on the 27th of September, 2025.
Thank you for taking the time to download this player’s pack.
The event is hosted by the Painted Black Wargaming Club, and is part of a series of events designed to act as a slow grow, and will cumulate in the final battle for Sombra Primaris!
It is highly advisable to read this entire document so you are clear on what is expected to make everything run smoothly.
Please note this event will be a 3 round 1000 point event!
If you should have any questions or problems they can be directed to me:
• Via Facebook messenger you’ll be able to find me.
• Via the FB event page
Tournament Rules:
Games will be 1000p and run for 1.5 hours
Games will be played on 4x4s
Fully painted armies will Not be required for this event to provide uneasy on-ramp. It is still recommended that you paint your army anyway because 1. It looks better and 2. The next events WILL have a painting requirement, and you dont want to be caught flat footed.
All normal restrictions apply, as directed by individual army lists. Players will be asked to submit lists no later than the 20th of September.
No named character/Primarchs
Players will be split into 2 sides, Traitor or Loyalist. Please indicate which side you prefer on your list, but you may still be assigned, depending on numbers on the day.
Whichever side claims the most wins at the end of the day will unlock a potent stratagem, the nature of which will be revealed at the final event!
All terrain will be set out by the tournament organisers, please leave the terrain roughly where it is for the next players.
Players need to bring their own objectives markers. Remember that objectives can be anything from tokens to small dioramas, but they do not block line of sight or provide cover and are measured from the centre of the marker.
Players must bring a copy of their list, their own blast markers, templates, dice, tape measure, etc.
All armies must be WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get). The miniatures used don’t have to be official GW miniatures, but all units must look like what they are representing.
If there are an odd number of players, then the TO will play games to ensure no byes.
.
I will be using the infamous “DBAD” (Don’t Be A Dick) rule when accepting and rejecting army lists. DBAD will be reflected by rejecting “un-enjoyable” lists that will detract from your opponent’s enjoyment from the tournament when playing against it. Please write and use narrative lists. I will advise to redo over the top lists or lists that aren’t in the nature of the event.
Missions:
Game 1: The Crucible of War - Search and Destroy deployment
Game 2: The Heart of Battle - Dawn of War deployment
Game 3: Take and hold - Dawn of War deployment (as it’s functionally identical to H&A on a 4x4)
