Side Quests for Witches
You are going about your business late one evening, when you are interrupted by a soft but purposeful “meow”. You look down to see a sleek black cat with an envelope in its mouth, looking up at you.
You take the envelope dubiously. Inside is a small scroll written in scrawled and spiky handwriting.
Your application to join The Witches Coven has been accepted.
The Archwitch Ceridwen the Green has called a gathering to formally welcome all new witches to the coven, and to share news and job opportunities.
Please make your way to the village of Wraithmoor in the Darkwood.
*Don’t mind the Wraithmoor banshee - she is expecting your arrival and has been paid to provide security for this year’s gathering.

Witch Side Quest One
Bewitching Garb
The Witches Coven is hosting their annual gathering in the Darkwood and you have been invited! The gathering will be a lively affair with influential witches from all over the realm attending. You'd better pack an outfit that will impress your fellow coven members.
Design a witch-y outfit for the Coven gathering.

You travel to Wraithmoor, dodging redcaps and a particularly nasty bog hag on the way.
In the deep, dark forests around the village, candles light the way to a clearing. A vast, circular stone table awaits with a fire burning brightly in a brazier in the center. Fae are gathering around the table, drinking from smoking goblets and ladling bubbling stew from a cauldron hanging over the brazier. You spot an eyeball floating in the cauldron and reconsider trying the brew.
As the blackness of night falls over the already dim light of the Darkwood, an owl hoots hauntingly nearby and bats swoop low over the clearing.
An old high fae in a medieval dress and a magnificent pointed witches cap claps her hands and calls for silence. The witches gather and take seats around the vast stone table.
“Welcome young witches, and welcome back old crones! Welcome to the annual gathering of the Witches Coven. We have much to discuss - the service of witches is needed all over the realm.”
The meeting begins. Gift bags are handed out: snake skin, elderflower and ginseng root. Not bad! Apparently last year everyone got toad spawn and frog legs. The budget must have been increased this year.

Witch Side Quest Two
The Annual Gathering of the Witches Coven
The meeting is in full swing. Ceridwen runs through the agenda while Hecate takes minutes with her magic quill. Archwitch Baba Yaga keeps trying to pour you some of the green eyeball stew. Ceridwen recounts news from the Coven: the Witch of Endor is in disgrace after being caught selling cursed cauldrons to the citizens of Wychwood. The Coven coffers are running low after Isobel Gowdie invested the covens funds into a multi level marketing scheme for broomsticks and lost it all (miss Gowdie looks around at the coven and grimaces apologetically) so the coven will need to run some fund raising schemes this year. Lastly, Aradia has gone missing again. This time, deep in the Mistharrow mines looking for a rare breed of snake, so if someone could go and find her that would be great.

The official meeting of the Witches Coven adjourns. The witches mill about, chatting amongst themselves and drinking. Despite the eerie setting, a sense of comradery and community hangs in the air. It has been a good night, and you feel inspired and exicted for your work in the year ahead.
Beds are summoned for the evening and protection charms laid so nothing sinister can enter the encampment during the night.
You drift off to sleep by the light of the green cauldron fire, and the sound of the Wraithmoor banshee shrieking as she loses yet another round of cards.

Witch Side Quest Three
Magick Training
⚠️Characters must be level 2 to complete this mission!⚠️
Some of the most powerful archwitches in the realm are taking on apprentices this year. These archwitches took human disguises during their heydey living in the mortal realm, but in Folkland they live proudly as their true fae races. If you secure a position as an apprentice, there is much you can learn from these incredible fae.
Ceridween (high fae) will train green witches
Baba Yaga (hag) will train kitchen witches
Hecate (craith) will train hedge witches
Morgan le Fay (arachnus) will train poison witches
Circe (nymph) will train cosmic witches
Ursula (fishfolk) will train sea witches

Witch Side Quest Four
Find Familiar
⚠️Characters must be level 2 to complete this mission!⚠️
All witches may adopt a familiar at level two (check your subclass page for your available choices). A witches familiar is an incredibly deep bond between fae and beast. How did your witch meet their familiar?
Draw or write about your character finding and forming an inseperable bond with their familiar.

Witch Side Quest Five
Specimen Compendium
The Witches Coven want to add new speciments to their potion ingredient compendium. Go out and search for a rare specimen. You may need to venture into dangerous and obscure places to find a really rare ingredient!
Draw or write about your character searching a mystical, dangerous or remote part of Folkland to find a rare potion specimen. What does your character find?

Witch Side Quest Six
Pixie Nest
A local villager has asked for help getting rid of a pixie nest in their store. Pixies are troublesome fae about the size of fairies with blue skin and black beetle eyes. They build nests from anything they can find and become quite territorial and aggressive if disturbed. Roll a d6 dice to see how you do!
Note: If you recruit another witch to help (either by drawing another witch in your quest or doing a collab with another member of Folkland), roll with advantage (roll twice and use the higher roll)!
If you rolled a 1: You sustain a pixie bite which turns green and nasty, and fail at your assignment. The pixies run amok in the store and chase the owner out!
If you rolled a 2-3: The dratted pixies cause havok and bite the owner on the thumb then flee the scene! Technically you have succeeded but the poor shop owner will need medical attention. Do what you can.
If you rolled a 4-5: It's a difficult job but you manage to oust the pixies. They cause a little damage to the store but nothing that can't be fixed.
If you rolled a 6: You successfully oust the nest of pixies. The grateful shop owner gifts you an extra +25 fairy gold and you are able to extract a vial of pixie spit - a powerful potion ingredient.

Witch Side Quest Seven
Draught of Eternity
⚠️This is a partner quest! Recruit another witch and include them in your quest submission or do a collab.⚠️
A rich fae has commissioned you to create a powerful elixir. This task involves both a potion and a spell component, and will be finicky and difficult. The mixture is so powerful it requires two witches to create it.
Draw or write about you and another members character creating the Draught of Eternity - either sourcing the expensive and rare ingredients, carefully brewing the potion, making sense of the ancient confusing recipe or casting the final spell.

Witch Side Quest Eight
Bathsheba's Riddle
A witch must be cunning and intelligent. Every year Bathsheba comes up with a riddle and challenges the members of the Witches Coven to solve it. If you can correctly guess the answer, the rewards will be handsome.
“In the dark, I weave and spin,
A tale unseen, a voice within.
With roots so deep, my power grows,
I am the story no one knows.
What am I?”
DM the founder Isi (isi.a) on discord with your guess. You have 3 tries per character.
Alternatively, draw or write about your character attempting to solve the riddle.
If you have already solved the riddle, roll 1d6:
If you rolled a 1: You can’t figure it out
If you rolled a 2-3: You succeed but at a high cost (or only partially succeed)
If you rolled a 4-5: You succeed
If you rolled a 6: You succeed wildly!

A Witches Day Off
Being both a witch and a member of the heroes guild is no easy feat. You deserve a day off everyone once in a while.

Magnum Opus
⚠️Character must be level 8 to complete this mission!⚠️
You are a renowed witch now and its time you created your masterpiece to earn the title of Archwitch. Your final task is to invent a potion or charm. Design the bottle/charm, list the ingredients, describe what it does, and name it. This is your life's work and will be your claim to fame as a witch.
Design a custom, unique potion or charm that your witch creates from scratch.
