Apps close on 30 October 2025 until 1 February 2026!
In September of 2025, we introduced the option of "Non-Player Characters" or NPCs.
NPCs are minor characters who live in the world of Folkland, but aren't heroes part of the Guild of Heroes. As of September 2025, you can apply for an NPC if you have the character slots available.Β
π§ββοΈ NPC Basic Rules
NPCs are characters you design who live in the world, but are not part of the Guild of Heroes.
They do not have stats like PCs and cannot join classes/subclasses.
Instead, theyβll have a vocation (a profession or life's purpose).
They still require a character slot to unlock, but you may have unlimited NPCs.
NPCs won't accrue fairy gold or crystals.
NPCs may have one non-magical pet.
NPCs still need to be one of the 22 available races.
They cannot join the main campaign, but may participate in:
Holiday events
Duchy side quests
Casual RP/Live RP events
(Note: They can't participate in class side quests or bounties either)
π§ββοΈ How to submit an NPC to the group
Confirm you have a character slot.
Create a character fullbody (clean, not a sketch, transparent background).
Fill out their app on one of the templates below. No written app is required.
Submit to the relevant Duchy channel in the Discord server.*
*The mods won't 'approve' NPCs in the same way we do PCs/heroes, but if we see something major that needs to change on their template or in their design, we will message you privately. If you want to get your design or profile checked before you submit it to the Discord, message one of the mods. :)
Create a Character log for them using either the group NPC log template, or put your own together. Remember - they won't have stats, a level, main campaign quests, etc...
π§ββοΈ Vocations for NPCs
Here are some ideas for professions for your NPC. This list is not exhaustive - feel free to be creative. Just keep the following rules in mind:
Your NPC may have multiple vocations.
Your NPC shouldn't be significantly famous, influential, or powerful in the world of Folkland. Remember - these are the ordinary citizens of the realm!
Your NPC doesn't have to have a 'profession' per se. In that case, think about their vocation - what is it they live to do? Are they an avid reader? Do they love being a stay at home parent? Are they a vagabond? Are they currently in jail???
