🍄 Overview
Your Fairy can be from the Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter Duchy.
Fairies are tiny humanoid Fae with bug wings, who are considered to be the progeny of High Fae. They are based on winged bugs like flying insects, moths, and butterflies. They are fast moving, glittery and multicolored little Fae who love to be in the thick of adventure or fun. They get along very well with Sprites.
🍄 Appearance
A Fairies appearance is based on a winged bug. Each Fairy is a unique bug, although there are many different breeds with different subtypes in the Realm. All Fairies have wings.

Thigh high bug armour or silver armour greaves are common.
They don’t usually wear shoes.
Below is an example of Fairy armour made from the carapis of a bug:
🍄 Birth, Life and Death
Birth
Fairies come to life when a bug lands on a High Fae, or on their flower field. The High Fae's incredibly potent magic seeps into the bug and it takes human form. The bug will morph into a Fairy at the age of a little child (not a baby) and grow to adulthood rapidly.
Life
Fairies can live to be 150 years old.
They do live a long time for such a small creature. However, a successful life to a Fairy is not a long one, but a fun one filled with adventure, comradery, joy and magic. Fairies want to make their mark on the world and seek to be in the thick of whatever is interesting.
They grow to adulthood in a matter of weeks, feeding on sugary foods. This is why young Fairies are so rare to see - they spend so little time in this period of their lives.
Death
When Fairies are old or dying, they start to lose their colour and slowly turn white. They don’t age physically like humans (forming wrinkles, losing physical substance etc). They become thinner and almost wraith like as their physical form starts to fade away.
When they feel death approaching, they find a fairy ring in the Realm and lie down and go to sleep, joining the ring. Their body disperses into magic dust, and soaks into the Earth. A toadstool grows in its place.
During this process, Fairies nearby will join together to pay respects as this happens. They sing together, surrounding the Fairy ring. Afterwards, they have a massive feast, singing and playing instruments, and building a bonfire. Fairies live quite a long time for such a small creature, so it is sad when they pass on. Their knowledge and magic and memories return to the Earth.
🍄 Fairy Customs & Culture
Your Fairy will receive a +1 to their CHARISMA stat as a race bonus, as they are naturally very charming and good at persuading other Fae.
Personality Traits
Fairies are charming, quick-witted, argumentative, and persuasive. They will ride on the tailcoats of the High Fae in terms of status, but want to make their own mark on the world and be taken seriously.
Fairies have a way with words and can be a little egoistical.
Their best traits are humorous, interesting, creative, strategic, and fun.
They are intelligent, quick witted and ambitious little creatures and shoould not be underestimated.
Fairies are social and feel most at home in a group. A lone Fairy is a sad Fairy.
Your Fairy should have a few of these traits but certainly doesn’t have to have all of them. Please feel free to put a unique spin on it.
Romance, Marriage and Offspring
Romance
Fairies can have relationships and flings. They can have same-sex relationships and inter-racial relationships too.
Marriage
They are generally not interested in the concept of marriage though they may form partnerships for life. It's not unheard of though.
Offspring
Fairies are magically created and do not produce their own offspring. They can adopt children, from their own race or from others.
Miscellaneous
Fairies love all Fae foods, but really love sweet dishes such as cakes, mead, candy, and fruit. They are big inventors of their own magically infused fairy foods such as Fizzing Biscuits, Giggle Water and Rainbow Sherbert Juice.
There are no particular naming conventions for Fairies- they should be old European names or fantasy, as with all other races.
