In the Ancient Times of Khepresh I was it's greatest champion. The high fighter of the Khepresh Guard, I was undefeated in sparring as well as the rare duel. Daily we did combat exercises in this bright place, for the fires never dimmed and there were so many basins it was like the sun was aside you instead of above. The Old Prince, for he had passed the throne to his younger brother, Setnakht IV, came here often and watched us with simple pleasure. Standing there with arms akimbo taking us in----sparring and our exercises. He talked with us and shared our mirth, he said he enjoyed it compared to the choreography of the court; he even did light sparring with us on occasion and though aged in joint and frame was still quick and agile. He was a great patron of mine, as having nothing but respect for my discipline and talent. We shared many words over the years. He told me of many stories and adventures; I loved him very much.
After some years the Prince became too old to outrun time itself, his younger brother Pharaoh Setnakht IV had died and his son taken the throne, and now the Prince's passage was here. He summoned me to his deathbed and in private entrusted to me a small piece of the finest metal I had ever seen wrapped in a servant's cloth. He said this was the last thing he had belonging to the one he loved and said one day I will meet someone that makes me feel the way he felt for her and requested me to give this to her. He had kept it through all these years and he didn't want his death to bring about the death of his love for her, he not wanting to let her go until his end was here. I made him an oath on my breast right there that it would be my greatest honor to carry out his wish. A smile entered his face and he let death take him. It was the first tear I ever shed in front of an elder.
Alas though I died before I wed the one I love, for I did find her and we were set to wed, and I planned to give the Prince's Token to her as a secret gift the night of our union. But the day before our wedding I was careless in our training and I moved onto the sword during a sparring exercise. It was a shameful death but what truly caused my despair in the moments I had my last gasps with the doctor and my beloved over me was that I could not fulfill my promise and so I let my great friend down.
Therefore here I have been for millennia, waiting for someone to present themselves who was worthy for what the Prince bestowed on me, and now I have met someone I know would give him smile before death.Â
