Entry 184: Pharaoh, Ranoh I, for he is great, has commissioned us to expand the Khepresh into the yet wild northwestern area of this great cave system. At last, a task worthy of my skill-a real feat of engineering. Many will fill their bellies on this----countless hands will be required to construct what is needed. I make my way there today to survey this great project; Pharaoh has explicitly decreed there 'shall be no expense withheld.'

Entry 191: It has now become apparent that construction cannot begin until we have drained the underswamps of the northwest. Though it appears dry with sand and dust where we walk, underground aquifers with vast, deep pools lie just below the surface. It completely prevents us building any foundation carriage for the buildings that should exist where Pharaoh wills it. Therefore, construction must cease, and we must focus on drainage over the entire area.
