Some professors are awesome and instead of forcing their students to buy a book, movie, or article, they put the item on reserve for the entire class to use. All course reserves are held on the shelf behind the Circ wall in alphabetical order based on the professor's last name.
What to do if a professor is wanting to submit a course reserve?
Generally, a supervisor can help you with this but unfortunately, they sometimes are away from their desk. If this happens, collect the items from the professor that they want to put on reserve BUT make sure they have filled out a Course Reserve form. Most professors will have them already filled out and ready to go... if they don't, there are some on the shelves next to each computer at the Circulation Desk. Either way, check this form over and make sure everything is filled in.
What happens when a student wants to check out a course reserve?
Students will come to the desk asking for an item on reserve (Sometimes you have to ask a few questions to find out which reserve they need). Locate said reserve check it out to the patron. Please note the sticker on the front of the reserve! This will let you and the patron know if the item can leave the library or not and how long the checkout period is.
Once a patron returns a reserve, discharge it and immediately place it back where it belongs on the course reserve shelves.
