Patrons also have access to a variety of equipment and services located throughout the library.
Vending Machines
The library has five vending machines: two drink machines, two snack machines, and a campus bookstore machine. One snack and one drink machine is located nexted to the Multipurpose room. The campus book store machine, the other snack machine, and the other drink machine are located in the 24 hour zone "break room" on the main level.
None of these vending machines are owned by the library and thus there is nothing we can do if a patron has issues with one of the machines. During midterms and finals, the bookstore vending machine sees a lot more use as patrons purchase Scantrons and Blue Books for their tests. If a patron comes and complains that we don't have something, or it is out, direct them to the Texan Outfitters.
Laptop Vending Machines- Located on main floor and upper level
Dell and Macbooks
Loan Period: 4 hours
Fine Rate: $15 per hour
For example: 0-60 minutes = $15
61-120 minutes = $30
121-180 minutes = $45
Dell laptops can be returned to either floor's kiosk. However, the Mac laptops must be returned to the upstairs kiosk.
If a student tries to swipe their card and it says "User not found" they may have an issue with their Texan card. A supervisor can change this in SIRSI for the day.
Printers
The library has 4 print centers located throughout the library. Two are located on the main floor (one in the 24 hour zone by the gate and the other by the Collaboration Rooms), one is located upstairs next to the stairs, and one is located downstairs near the collab tables.
The color printer near the collaboration rooms doesn't work. If a student uses it, they use it at their own risk. The color printer upstairs also has signs explaining that it's at end-of-life (EOL). Again, if a student uses it, they use it at their own risk. If you get questions, get a supervisor.
If a patron has issues with a printer or getting their documents to print, let a staff member know immediately.
Texan Card Kiosk
Located next to the Collaboration Rooms, this kiosk allows students to put cash onto their Texan Card and allows guests to purchase a copy card to print items out. (NOTE: Students should NOT purchase a copy card as there is no way to link it to their print account!) Patrons just need to follow the instructions on the screen depending on what they need to do. If a patron is having issues, notify a staff member.
Scanner
Located in the upstairs print center is a scanner. Patrons can use this scanner to scan a document and send it to an email address. By doing this, a student can then print off a copy using their $5 per semester printer money.
Copier
The library has one copier, located in the print center by the 24 hour zone gate (and it often gets confused for a printer). This copier can ONLY be used with Texan Bucks!!! A student's print money will not work.
The Maker Spot --> THE MAKER SPOT IS CLOSED
Located on the upper level of the library, the Maker Spot gives the Tarleton community easy access to the most innovative technologies for invention, creation, exploration, and design. In this space you, patrons have access to 3-D printers and scanners, a large format poster printer, and a laser cutter. Patrons can also check out GoPro cameras and hardware, DSLR cameras, and a variety of maker and computer development kits.
The Maker Spot's hours are typically Monday-Friday, 8AM to 5PM. For more information about the Maker Spot, go to https://www.tarleton.edu/library/facilities/maker-spot.html . If a patron is wanting to know information about cost and such for printing, this is a good resource to use.
If a patron is wanting to return an item that belongs to the Maker Spot and they are closed, discharge the item at Circ and put it in the Maker Spot bin located on the course reserve shelves.
