Exploring Leather Craft: Surface Design Made Simple 

A unique design learning experience for Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s School of Design & Environment’ students, guided by Center of Innovation for Society: Pote Nilsa-ard and supported by students from DIPs KMUTT SOA+D, Thailand. Over 3 creative days, NPoly students discovered how traditional Thai leather craft blends with modern surface design. With hands-on guidance from Pote and KMUTT’s dips students, they explored:

+ Practical leather crafting, cutting, shaping, and assembly

+ Surface design techniques to transform simple forms

+ Thai design values and craftsmanship

+ The joy of making through lifelong learning

+ Cross-cultural collaboration in design practice

This workshop wasn’t just creating leather trays and bowls, it was about building skills, confidence, and global friendships through craft and design.
