A new batch, a new workshop! The new batch of DIPS students has the opportunity to learn from their seniors about leather, laser cutting, and Adobe Illustration. They got the chance to make their coin purse from scratch using leather and learn how to use Adobe Illustration to create and design something to put on the leather through laser cutting.
In the morning they were tasked if they knew how the basic shape of the coin purse, so they sketched and got it right then they learn about laser cutting as they watch as the laser cut through the leather. They learned how the design was made and how easy it is to create and laser-cut the design they want. They were so keen to learn how to do the coin purse and so the seniors taught them to do it. The workshop was thriving as seniors and a new batch of DIPS students worked on their coin purses. Everyone was passionate about their work; some added some sling to use as a necklace while some just made the normal coin purse but needless to say every one of them did a really good job in the end.
In the afternoon, they learned to use the Adobe Illustration, where they learned to create their designs for their chosen leather to be used as a nametag or decoration. Their seniors taught them simple commands like the command for lines, layers, and the likes which everyone got to follow and apply to their design, and they were able to see their designs in real-life surface as the designs they made were used for laser cutting. Everyone was in awe with the laser-cutting activity as they get to see how their design was done in the leather. It was a fun and fruitful workshop for the new batch, and they hope they will get to have more opportunities to learn special skills like this in the future.
