Cross-Cultural Exchange and Professional Growth at Chiba University
CIS staff recently participated in an enriching Staff Development Program hosted by Chiba University. The program was designed not only to promote professional growth but also to deepen cross-cultural understanding between Thai and Japanese university staff. Participants visited Chiba’s Sumida Campus Design Research Institute and the Environmental Health Field Science Centre at Kashiwa-no-ha Campus, gaining insights into innovative academic environments and sustainability research.
The SD training focused on two key themes: Japanese and Thai culture, and career path systems in higher education. Interactive sessions included self-introductions, engaging fun quizzes, cultural presentations, and lively group discussions on how to attract global interest to both countries. The afternoon session featured comparative discussions on career development for university staff in Thailand and Japan, concluding with insightful group presentations.
Beyond the formal program, Chiba University’s warm hospitality extended to city walks, campus tours, and cultural experiences, allowing CIS staff to experience everyday Japanese life firsthand. This immersive exchange built lasting connections and opened doors for future collaboration. CIS is truly grateful to Chiba University for creating such a meaningful and inspiring cross-border learning journey.
