Jacob Jensen Design is one of the companies that DIPS students have the opportunity to work with. JJD is a Scandinavian company that works on furniture, watches, radio, packaging, and other varieties of products shown on their website. DIPS students that have been designated to JJD have been allowed to learn more on-site with the guidance of their seniors and staff. Some of the students were delighted to share their experiences and learnings after a week or so with the company.
During the first week with the company, the students were given previous projects that they can work on to work on their presentation skills. They had their seniors guide them on how to make their slides perfect before showing it to the client. The students were focused on only one project to make sure they learn and practice the skills they need in working with JJD. Also, they had to do paper models and 3D modeling as a small project that improves their ability in making prototypes. Moreover, some more skills they acquire in working with JJD are knowing more about the competitors in many different perspectives, doing 3D modeling using a program and finding key points that are important to the project. With the seniors’ guide they’re able to do the projects correctly and they are able to learn more about adapting to the work in JJD. The students work on site and have to report to the office at 9am to 5pm. The designated students are really delighted with working in JJD as they are working in a good environment with friendly staff, provided with materials needed for work and also supplied with food for breakfast and breaks. Overall, they get to work as a team to be able to get the project done perfectly.
