February, 2026
On 18–19 February, CIS and SDI were delighted to welcome our friends and partners from Chiba University — Prof. Daisuke Katagiri and Prof. Kotaro Takeda from the Center of Entrepreneurship, together with Mr. Hiroshi Sodeyama from the IA Division — as well as representatives from Capital Medica Ventures, Mr. Takeshi Aoki and Ms. Yoko Gocho.
Their visit marked an exciting step forward in strengthening entrepreneurship education at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT).
With the generous support of Capital Medica Ventures and the Center of Entrepreneurship at Chiba University, SDI is shaping a creative and socially grounded pathway for nurturing the next generation of social innovation entrepreneurs. Our shared focus goes beyond business creation — we aim to combine entrepreneurial vision with strong social impact assessment, research collaboration, and meaningful engagement with communities across the region.
Together, we move forward, from collaboration to contribution, from education to transformation, and from local action to regional impact.
During the visit, Prof. Hikari Ishido, Prof. Michiko Takagaki, Asst. Prof. Pronyos Chattarakul, and Asst. Prof. Duangkamol Limwongse shared how SDI’s network has been expanding across Southeast Asia. Over the past year, we have taken important steps to strengthen CIS partnerships in Singapore, China, India, and Malaysia — positioning CIS as a connector that brings together academia, industry, and communities to create impact that reaches beyond borders.
Special appreciation to Asst. Prof. Dr. Vorapoch Angkasith, Assistant to the President for Business Developmen for presenting the dynamic KMUTT Business Development. Asst. Prof. Karuna Kleubmongkol, Ms. Arunothai Sarigakham, and Ms. Preeyakamon Soeseng presented several ongoing initiatives, including area-based development projects in Sakon Nakhon, the Satun Learning City initiative, creative business incubation programs supporting Thai SMEs, and lifelong learning programs across Thailand. These projects reflect our belief that entrepreneurship education must stay closely connected to real places and real people.
A highlight of the visit was the presentation by internship students from KMUTT and Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP), who shared their experiences working in a dynamic cross-cultural environment. Their reflections demonstrated how international collaboration translates into real-world learning, interdisciplinary teamwork, and global readiness.
This visit reinforces CIS and SDI’s shared vision: transforming entrepreneurship education into a platform for research-driven, socially impactful, and internationally connected innovation.
As part of the program, the delegation also visited the KMUTT Learning Center in Sakon Nakhon to observe how KMUTT actively engages in community development and lifelong learning initiatives. The visit offered a firsthand look at how academic knowledge is translated into real-world collaboration with local communities — supporting youth development, local entrepreneurs, and area-based innovation. Through this immersive experience, our partners were able to see how KMUTT’s mission extends beyond the campus, fostering inclusive growth and sustainable impact at the community level.
