Elderly Resident
Partnership : Ban Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo
CIS collaborates with the community of Ban Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo in Sakon Nakhon province on a project aimed at studying the behavior of elderly residents within the community. The elderly population is a significant part of the community, leading to a design concept for standard homes suitable for seniors living.
The design takes into consideration various activity levels tailored to the elderly, such as kitchen accessibility for stove use and windows that enable bedridden patients to enjoy the outdoors without leaving their homes. This project also provides employment opportunities to local residents. Thanks to KMUTT and Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo community
Giant Turtles Reborn
Partnership : Ban Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo
Following the success of the 'Giant Turtles' exhibition that traced the footsteps in Sakon Nakhon at Ban Nangoi, and the Turtle Run 2020, the CIS team collaborated with the Sakon Nakhon Vocational College to creatively transform various exhibition structures and information displays for the community.
Our primary focus was on minimizing waste generation while maximizing the utility of different elements within the exhibition. We engaged architects and designers to repurpose steel structures from the exhibition into tables and chairs for the local learning center. We utilized flawed fabric from textile factories to print content, transforming them into chairs, bags, and more.
Additionally, our graphic designers created frames that allowed residents' photos from the village to be turned into mementos after the event. All these modifications were carried out by the community members themselves.
Furthermore, we borrowed tools and equipment from local households and Doi Kham factories to create various art installations without causing any harm to the items, making them reusable. This project was a testament to the community's ability to simplify design while championing waste reduction, recycling, income generation, and skill development. It was truly a remarkable collaboration between the community and the CIS team.
Thailand Research Expo 2022, KMUTT Exhibition Design
Partnership : FabLab Bangkok
Designing KMUTT Exhibition Booths for the Thailand Research Expo 2022 was an opportunity to showcase the advancements in research, technology, and innovation aimed at bridging the gap between knowledge and practical application for the country's development.
CIS-KMUTT took an innovative approach by designing the booth under the concept with the goal of producing minimal waste after the event. The design focused on minimizing production costs for presentation materials and ensuring ease of reuse during dismantling. This was made possible through collaboration and the technology of FabLab.
In addition to this, CIS transformed academic content into easily accessible and comprehensible information for the general audience through the use of Motion Graphics. This approach allowed everyone to grasp the academic content effortlessly.
KMUTT Exhibition Design
Partnership: KMUTT
Designing an outdoor exhibition booth at Walailak University in Nakhon Si Thammarat province was an opportunity to showcase the research projects in which KMUTT researchers and professors have played pivotal roles. The design concept emphasized fun and transforming academic information into engaging and captivating content.
CIS divided the booth into three sections to create a multidimensional learning and visiting experience, including workshops, shops, and the main content exhibition. This allowed visitors, primarily students, to relax, understand the core content through hands-on experiences, and bring the booth to life in a unique way.
To make academic information accessible to the main audience, which consists mainly of schoolchildren, CIS presented all the data in a visual format. This was complemented by short videos to provide a comprehensive understanding of each project."

Tee Lung Ka Community, Satun
Partnership : MHESI
CIS-KMUTT had the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and to promote local community members to engage in small-scale research projects centered around exploring Design Opportunities. These initiatives were guided by the Human-Centered Design philosophy, aiming to design a better tourism experience (Experience Design).
The project focused on creating new income-generating avenues from a different perspective than before. It added value to existing skills by presenting them in novel ways to enhance participation and introduce new dimensions of interest. The aim was to offer a fresh tourism experience by utilizing resources within the Satun Global Geopark, seamlessly blending conservation practices into every step of the journey.
