TK Park: The Design Guideline for Spatial Design
Partnership : TK Park
CIS, in collaboration with Thailand Knowledge Park (TK Park), conducted a study and analysis of the learning behavior trends outside the classroom among various groups of people. We explored learning sources, engaged in discussions, and observed behaviors in various regions of Thailand. This research aimed to gain a profound understanding of the motivations and experiences individuals have when using different spaces and contexts.
Through this collaboration, CIS came to appreciate the significance of TK Park for various groups, whether it's seen as a Contemplation Place, Second Home, Creative Commons, Club, and Trusted Public. This insight has influenced people's attitudes and expectations regarding their experiences while utilizing TK Park's spaces.
Knowledge Management for Handcraft Furniture
Partnership : Hawaii Thai
CIS, in collaboration with Hawaii Thai, embarked on a journey to study the processes and techniques of handcrafted furniture production by skilled craftsmen within the manufacturing facility. Through participatory observation, they gained a profound understanding of the underlying factors and motivations driving each craftsman's unique personal techniques.
This involved an in-depth analysis of the patterns of processes and techniques employed by each craftsman. The aim was to organize an efficient furniture production process, incorporating the most effective techniques. These findings serve as reference points for the company to maintain quality control throughout the production process. Ultimately, the summary of these processes and reference techniques contributes to enhancing the flexibility of relying on the skills and personal techniques of the craftsmen. It also promotes adaptability in the inspection, development, and optimization of production processes at every stage.
Conceptual Idea of Comfort Shoes
Partnership : GoldCity
CIS, in collaboration with our partner, delved into understanding the meaning, experiences, and comfort associated with wearing shoes during everyday activities of urban residents. They tracked the usage of different types of shoes in various contexts and examined the feelings and experiences associated with wearing and owning shoes in multiple provinces across Thailand.
CIS leveraged their expertise in Human Factors to comprehend the significance of each pair of shoes to different groups of people in varying contexts. This allowed for an in-depth analysis of the design factors contributing to the management of comfort in different styles of footwear. Ultimately, these insights were translated into essential design elements for Comfort Shoes, which were presented through Conceptual Idea Prototypes.
Double Turtle
Partnership : Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo
CIS joined forces with the community of Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo in the province of Sakon Nakhon through a project aimed at providing employment opportunities. In this endeavor, CIS conducted an analysis of the behavioral trends associated with the use of naturally dyed handwoven fabric, a renowned product of the community.
This study paved the way for the creation of user-friendly bags designed for everyday use by young adults. By leveraging skills in pattern design, fabric color intensity, and sewing, which are all readily available within the community, the project aimed to enhance the value of natural dyed fabric products and generate income. These efforts have empowered the community to explore future opportunities and expand their impact.
The Taongoi Fest 2020
Partnership : Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo
Collaboration between CIS and the Nangoi-Pon Pla Lo community network, with support from government agencies and civil society organizations in Sakon Nakhon province, led to the organization of two significant events: "Following the Royal Visit in Sakon Nakhon Part 1: Four Decades at Nangoi Village" and "The Turtle Run 2020". These events highlighted the importance of working together between academia and the local community in collecting data and decoding the success stories of community development in various aspects.
The projects were inspired by various Royal Initiatives and aimed to showcase the diverse developments within the community, ultimately impacting the well-being of the current population, especially the younger generation. The event format and decorations were designed to convey the community's freshness and joyfulness, inviting both the younger generation and local youth to participate in the exhibitions and activities alongside the community members.
