Semicolon (;)

Semicolon (;) is another punctuation used to link 2 independent clauses, similar to comma (,). It is also known as super-comma when the conventional comma is already in used.

Linking 2 Independent Clauses Together

When 2 or more closely-related and independent clauses are next to each other, you can link them together using semicolon (;). These clauses however, must be independent in nature. By replacing the semi-colon with a period, they can stand own its own without alternation.
