Summary of ASCSU Internship Program Development
ASCSU is developing a structured internship program to offer valuable, hands-on experience for students while enhancing ASCSU's operational capacity. This program focuses on creating clear roles, establishing a supportive structure, and aligning with ASCSU's professional development goals.
Delegation and Training: Departments will provide specific training, while a core curriculum on professional development will be provided, aiming to build interns' skills and understanding of ASCSU functions.
Credit and Compensation:
Exploring internship credit with academic departments and potential for a 1-credit Honors experience.
Researching options to secure paid internships, an important goal for enhancing intern commitment and accessibility.
Internship Cohort Structure:
Cohorts are structured by semester (Sep 9 - Nov 22), with 5-7 interns selected for each term. Interns may participate in either rotational experiences across departments or in focused roles, depending on departmental needs.
Curriculum and Support:
Working closely with the Organizational Wellness Initiative to align intern development with ASCSU’s wellness and professional support resources.
Weekly or monthly check-ins, mentorship, and feedback collection will help refine the program and ensure interns’ growth and satisfaction.
Marketing and Onboarding:
Collaborating with Marketing to highlight the benefits of the program and expand promotion through multiple channels, including Handshake (pending pay options).
Internship applications, ratification, and role descriptions will be finalized through Senate approval, with an ASCSU retreat introduction for new interns.
Through these structured plans, the ASCSU internship program will provide a balanced, supportive environment for interns, preparing them to engage with ASCSU's mission while contributing meaningfully to its operations.

Summary of ASCSU Rotational Internship Program
The ASCSU Rotational Internship Program offers interns a comprehensive experience across all 10 ASCSU departments. Previously called “Chief of Staff Interns,” these rotational interns now gain firsthand knowledge of ASCSU’s diverse operations, fostering a broad skill set and enhancing understanding of each department’s role.
Engagement Across Departments: Interns participate actively in departmental projects, assist with weekly tasks, and attend ASCSU Cabinet meetings every Wednesday at 5:30 PM.
Learning and Reporting: They gain insights into Senate legislation impacting EXEC, submit monthly reports, and are encouraged to contribute positively to each team during rotations.
Departmental Matching: Directors prepare task lists for interns and provide performance feedback, which is logged in each intern’s file. This helps match interns with a specific department in the spring based on strengths and interests.
The rotational internship is ideal for students exploring varied career paths, providing a unique opportunity to understand ASCSU holistically before committing to a department.
