Prospect Plaza Advocacy Work

Summary: Our department has been continually advocating for Prospect Plaza residents and CSU Students through work with the ASCSU Housing Caucus. Prospect Plaza is an affordable housing complex slated for redevelopment, and we are focused on ensuring that student voices are part of the conversation as it impacts affordable housing availability in Fort Collins. This advocacy involves collaborating with stakeholders to highlight the importance of preserving affordable housing units and pushing for sustainable, student-friendly solutions in the redevelopment process. By leveraging the Housing Caucus, we aim to build a strong coalition that can engage with city officials and developers, ensuring that the housing needs of students and low-income individuals are prioritized. Thus far, we have met with Off Campus Life, Student Legal Services, our Basic Needs Program managers, the Lumin Initiative leadership and the CEO and CFO of CSU Strata (owners of the property).
