Summary: In conjunction with CSU administration, we will be bringing down students to the Colorado Capitol to gain a better understanding of their state political process. CSU admin has offered to partner with ASCSU for Founder’s Day, a day in which they bring all of the mascots and CSU Presidents to the Capitol. Through this partnership, I hope to create a fun “field-trip” esq trip that emphasizes the work at the Capitol in a less formal manner. Moreover, through this partnership, we may be able to meet with high level politicians, including the Governor.
Future Work: I need to specifically meet with CSU admin to discuss the logistics of this event and ensure we are on the same page with event style, purpose, etc. After discussing the logistical breakdown with CSU admin, we will begin to move forward in our event planning including transportation, catering, and marketing. In addition, we will begin to book time with legislators and hopefully put together a lunch with legislators and arrange a tour.
Stakeholders & Beneficiaries: This event will hopefully provide an opportunity for students who are not typically heavily involved within our political processes to see the Colorado Capitol in-person. I hope to create a fun event with less of an emphasis on the formal pieces of the political process (testifying, hearings, etc) and allow students to interact with legislators and observe a Representative floor meeting.
