Summary: Greeks Go Green is a proposed council of representatives from every chapter on campus (from all S councils- PHA, IFC, etc.) to attend monthly meetings centered around waste reduction and sustainability education to then report back to their chapters and organize events/projects in their individual chapter facilities. These sustainability liaisons/representatives can hold educational workshops for their chapters, organize a cleanup in Fort Collins that members attend, host an event where members decorate reusable bags, implement a recycling system in their chapter facility, host a workshop on how to compost, etc.
Ideally, there will be a sustainability president serving on the executive board. Greeks Go Green is a sustainability council specifically for members of Fraternity and Sorority Life. Past directors have worked towards a Greeks Go Green initiative, but we want to see a consistent leadership role introduced for sustainability in each FSL organization apart of CSU's campus. We will be writing a bill to go through the ASCSU senate that creates this council and allows it to be housed under ASCSU. All participation in the council will be entirely voluntary by chapter members.
Future Work: The Department of Environmental Affairs is in the process of writing said bill to go through senate. Assuming this bill is passed, the Department of Environmental Affairs will work to establish this council and begin working on marketing and speaking with chapters to ask for participating members.
