Plan 1: Sustainable Holiday Event
The holiday season generates lots of waste. To highlight low waste consumption the Student Sustainability Center, Zero Waste Team, and ASCSU Environmental Affairs will come together to display low-waste crafts and practices for the holiday season.
Stakeholders & Beneficiaries: CSU students, ASCSU, ZWT, SSC
Plan 2: Reusable Menstrual Product Drive w/ Basic Needs Department
We want to host multiple giveaways throughout the school year for reusable menstrual products on women's centered holidays (i.e. Women's Equality Day or during Women's History Month). Not only do these products reduce waste but they are incredibly necessary and a highly requested item.
Plan 3: Compost Bin Giveaway w/ OCL
We are working with Off Campus Life to host a compost bin giveaway for off-campus students. We think this would be an excellent opportunity to collaborate with this organization and we believe this would be a great way to encourage students to compost.
Composting is not allowed in the dorms and is considered a biohazard, because of this, many off-campus students are unaware of how to compost or do not know where to acquire a countertop compost bin. Students will also be provided with the bags, information on where to restock bags, and information on where they can take their compost. We also believe that this project will alleviate the burden of the ZWT and other CSU students and staff working with the compost on campus.
Plan 4: Re-Do Student Sustainability Guide
The Student Sustainability Guide is a small pocket-sized guide to the sustainable clubs and resources we offer on campus. This project began as a Graduate Project and I would like to revamp the current copy, make updates where needed, and have the Eco Leader team
distribute these new copies in Fall of ’25. Not only will these guides be incredibly helpful to new CSU students, but also allow the Eco Leaders to better connect with their residents.
Plan 5: Ultimate Contact Sheet for City of Fort Collins
After meeting with Jacob Castillo of the City of Fort Collins, there is a large disconnect that was brought to my attention between FOCO and CSU. To alleviate this, we will be creating an ultimate contact sheet and guide about all the sustainability staff at CSU and the clubs,
organizations, and resources that we have. Fort Collins will use this guide in their regular operations and to facilitate more frequent collaborations.
Plan 6: Updating Ram Recycling Magnets
In Spring of 2024 the Environmental Affairs Department printed refrigerator magnets with a recycling guide of them. Many students liked the idea, however, there were some confusing aspects. This year, we hope to put the design through a more rigorous testing process and ensure the message we are trying to communicate is being received. After revamping the design, we hope to reprint and continue handing out the magnets.
