My vision is to have an optional, yet encouraged, training session for student leaders of organizations that utilize the cultural resource centers of CSU. During my tenure as a president of a feminist activist student organization, I found that there were some gaps in my activism that needed to be addressed, despite holding multiple marginalized identities. The goal of this training is to provide and connect student leaders with resources and knowledge for how to better serve their communities.
These trainings should:
Provide a framework for student org leaders to develop a stronger understanding of DEI practices
Prevent more culturally insensitive actions and behaviors on campus (blackface, microaggressions)
Increase cultural competence in our campus community
Work in collaboration with Senate to pass a bill requiring DEI trainings for student organizations
