“Alcoholic Addicts Anonymous, as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.”
Tradition 9 tells us that while the fellowship isn’t governed by rigid structure or hierarchy, some organization is helpful—if it supports, not controls. We create service roles and committees to ensure the message is carried and the meetings run smoothly, but those roles are guided by humility. No one rules here; we lead by serving, and we serve by listening.
It’s leadership turned upside down—and that’s what makes it powerful.
