🕊️ Step 3 of Recovery: The Principle of Faith and Surrender
Step 3 in the 12-step recovery model says:
“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”
This step is a turning point—it’s where intention becomes action. You’re no longer just admitting powerlessness or hoping for change; you’re actively choosing to let go and trust something greater than yourself.
Faith: Believing that a Higher Power can guide you, even if you don’t fully understand it yet.
Surrender: Releasing control over outcomes and trusting the process.
Trust: Building confidence that you’re not alone in this journey.
Willingness: Being open to guidance and change, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Acceptance: Embracing life as it is, not as you wish it to be.
You’re choosing to stop fighting alone.
You’re acknowledging that your own willpower hasn’t been enough.
You’re opening the door to spiritual growth, emotional healing, and deeper peace.
Saying a daily prayer like: “God, please take my will and my life, guide me in my recovery, show me how to live.”
Reflecting through meditation or journaling.
Asking for help before making big decisions.
Letting go of the need to control every outcome
